Bowen is real. Notice right after Ryan took Kiran, Denver took Jonah Ellis with the great motor but not a ton of length. A shade over 6-2. OL was more of a priority and Mr A has a lot despite it being vs Ivy League comp. Interesting to see what's there at 122 tho.

Again, the Bears problem on the Oline last year had nothing to do with either OT position. Braxton played fine with a QB that held the ball too long while locking on to the deep read. Braxton reminds me of a young Jermon Bushrod with the Saints. Theyre almost identical in their development and as overall players.The Bears need a CENTER.

You do realize that Caleb has held the ball longer IN COLLEGE than any QB in the last 6 years. But sure let’s see how he does behind the same oline and against Men

@@BeepsAndBeatsCaleb also played in the pocket on time 50% of the time. He had to try and put a team that was allowing 45 points a game on his back.

I’m not as worried about the Oline, Braxton did not play as well as year 1, Braxton was also hurt, a lot of the bad people talk about on the left side, happened when he wasn’t playing and Larry was getting killed. When he came back things improved but I don’t think he was fully healthy. Wright is just starting to ascend, but he didn’t have the elite rookie year we see from guys like Wirfs, Lane Johnson, or Sewell, but cut his numbers in half over the next two years and he is a solid RT. Davis didn’t see the field much do to tragedy, but he was an above average player before that, and I expect him to start and play well this year, give him a full camp, and time to gel, and he should really help. Bates is an upgrade, but it’s like going from an F to a C, when we need a B or an A. Shelton adds nice depth, and Jenkins is a B+ when healthy but his injuries are a problem. Kiran is a nice addition, to push Braxton, he’s raw, but has great traits and could move inside to guard, he’s a good run blocker, has good power. Oline should be better with all the starters actually playing and staying healthy with improved depth. Caleb is a master at moving the pocket to help his Oline. That should help, there is context to how long a player holds a ball, Justin held it to long because he couldn’t read the Field and his first instinct was to put his head down and run. Caleb knows how to extend plays, his head does not come down till after he crosses the line of scrimmage, his eyes are always down field, and he excels at pocket manipulation which helps a line, and looking off coverages which helps his receivers and is the benefit of keeping your head up and not just tucking and running.

@@BeepsAndBeats you realize JF1 was traded for a 6th round pick? You want to knock Caleb because your favorite player got traded for nothing but he got traded for nothing because that’s what he was worth.

I can only believe that the bears believe part of Jones and the OL failure was on the QB holding onto the ball and not playing on schedule

It’s clear and obvious the bears are aware that they need to make sure Caleb and the offense has the most success after loving from Fields. This draft shows this. And hopefully we can sign one more defensive player on the line. Then next year we have three picks in the top two rounds and those will likely be defensive oriented
@creightonc8147

Nah, in 2022 Caleb threw in structure most of the time, when his line got bad and the defense fell apart and he lost his only weapons, he started throwing out of structure more often, cause even in college his job was to try and win, not let me show the nfl more in structure passes, last year his in structure to out of structure plays were almost dead even. People just watch and notice the out of structure stuff because they are highlights. People did it with Stroud as well before the season and during the draft they said Stroud couldn’t play out of structure so that made him bad, except he played out of structure on almost 43% of his plays. It’s all BS. He can do both, Stroud could do both, he just needs to learn the Bears system. That will take time, usually takes 2-3 years for QB’s, doesn’t matter who they are. Brady, Manning, Mahomes, Rodgers, Favre, Luck, Allen, Burrow, Stroud etc… Doesn’t mean they can’t have great rookie years, or good rookie years, or average, or bad. Burrow was ok his rookie year, Herbert was great, Stroud was great, Manning was bad, some don’t play. Give the new guys some time, they haven’t even been to camp.

I don’t see why everyone is so high on Byron Murphy I see a undersized lineman with no where near elite explosion off the line most of his sacks came from the QB moving up in the pocket . I see him struggling in the NFL I could be wrong .

Left handed quarterbacks don't succeed as much in the NFL because football is a team sport and requires all the players to 'flip' the offense to accommodate. I should know, I was a left handed QB. The main problem was some players could not make the adjustment. Those failures lead to sacks from broken protection, running routes incorrectly, and so on. When you have a left handed QB, he's usually the only one on the roster. When the other QBs are getting their reps, the offense is being run by a right-handed QB as is done on most teams. Practice makes perfect, but if the team has to adjust all the time, or lacks repetitions, they won't succeed as a unit. Coaching can also be a problem as very few coaches have had to deal with that issue. Just like golf where they force you to play right handed in many places, coaches may circumvent the issue and either force the left hander to play in a right handed system, or won't know how to accommodate the left handed style of play. there's a lot more to it than just flipping the playbook. Left handers don't think the same or see the field the same. It's akin to a left handed batter in baseball batting against a left handed pitcher who throws a lot of curve balls. It doesn't happen very often, and when it does, it's a huge adjustment. It has nothing to do with the batter's ability. It has everything to do with having to perform in a situation that is uncommon.

The Chicago Bears blew it again. you could have got 7 picks by trading down. Caleb Williams will be a bust. He does not have the emotional strength to be a NFL QB and I am curious about if his talent is good enough. It is all about the OL and DL. However I am confused by my fellow Bears fans. For the last couple of years they were all complaining that Fields should not have played as a rookie. Now they can not wait to start a rookie thinking he is going to be Dan Marino. So which is it? Make up your mind. Tydson Bagent is much better than Geno Smith and look what the OC did with Smith that we have now. But keep paying for those tickets foe mediocracy and a corrupt city. Shame

Williams would've the consensus first pick last year, just as he was this year. The man's stats speak for him. As far as emotional strength goes, you have no quantifiable way of knowing or measuring that until the season is well under way. Tyson Bagent is not anything close to Geno Smith as an NFL starter or a pro bowler. Your hot takes are both laughable and tepid. What makes your emotional, off base observations more accurate than the average NFL GM?
