I was actually driving my car at the time when I heard this on the radio as he performed it live. I actually had to stop rhe car, I was so blown away. I had goosebumps and my mouth was hanging wide open. My husband and I just could not stop staring at one another. His vocals are just staggering. Ps: I love that you covered this

He's my favourite chill pill guy. Just love Matts style and voice. I remember when he started out young. He had a very hard time at school being bullied badly. He ended up leaving home early and travelling to other schools with another group and talked to students and gave the bullied children a voice.

He started his own record label recently - Rainbow Valley Records. I believe he's working with a bunch of Aussie musicians at the moment and a lot of it is recorded on his property, which (I think), was named Rainbow Valley before he bought it. It also takes a certain drive to want to be famous on that level. Some people are perfectly comfortable if they can just make a decent living doing what they do and dont need all the extra stuff. Dont know where he is personally on that level.

He’s toured the US and Europe however from what I’ve heard he made a deliberate decision to remain independent. Unfortunately he doesn’t get enough air play even in Australia 😢

It's been great watching you go through generations of Australia's best male vocalists. Farnham, Barnes, Guy and Matt. If you're after what I'd think will be the next generation check out Ruel 'Dazed and confused' or 'Painkiller' and Kian 'Waiting'. Both emerged and won awards in 2018 as 16 year olds, but if you just listen you'd think they were much older with the depth of their voices.

Triple J, the radio station that this Like a Version was recorded with, hosts a Hottest 100 countdown every year for which songs are voted highest by the Australian public. Matt Corey's "Brother" landed at #2 while The Black Keys "Lonely Boy" secured the #1 spot. I was a huge fan of Lonely Boy at the time but there was more than a few who felt Corby should have taken it. Corby not long after entered the studio to record an acoustic version of "Brother" which you've previously reacted to. He followed it up with a cover of "Lonely Boy". My dude is mad humble. Both performances will never be forgotten. One day we should talk about Matt Corby's very young origin during the very much commercial show of Australian Idol, a recreation of America's Pop Idol. He came second ;). The young awkward theatre kid. Funny enough there's more than a few extremely talented indy Australian artists that started on commercial singing contests before coming into their own in later years without being signed by exploited TV show contracts. Nobody could foresee his level up arc behind the scenes. Came back like a power house and has only perfected his craft ever since.
