My dad always sings me this and I don't really get to see him that much. But thank you Matt!

What a cool artist to share such an amazing song and then teach us how to share it with others! This was one of my lullabies as a baby and I still love it to this day, thank you so much for this song.

I love your music and I am just learning how to play a cheap acoustic I got online, im not even able to move my hand this well yet and my index finger keeps hurting but I saved this and I will practice this, maybe eventually I'll get it, my dad was a professional guitarist.

Nice! You can just get the chord shapes down and if you don't have capo you can play without, it will just be a little lower pitch. Im teaching this with the chord shapes so you can also just learn them as basics too. Hope it helps.

Thx for the lesson, Matt! Would be annoying by my part request a video teaching how to play Astair? 🤗

@@mattcostaTV Oh, that's so awesome. I learned sunshine a few weeks ago, this would've made things way easier, but I was planning on learning Astair as well so this is so exciting.

@@mattcostaTV It absolutely does! I've been trying to hear what the rhythm chords are behind the solo and this gave me that. Thanks!

This is fantastic, any chance you could do a piano lesson for Drive?
@mattcostaTV3 жыл бұрын
I can! I only have access to my electric wurlitzer, its a really cool sound . Some of these get more involved so I'm keeping it simple first. I can add Drive to the list.

Love this song love playing and singing this song I didn't know it was played with a capo so I've been playing bit without one but I will definitely try to switch it up now How about ophelia I really like that one too
@mattcostaTV3 жыл бұрын
yea for sure! You can play however works this is just how I wrote it. Its also drop D that changes the G chord shape but I showed Standard in this vid for starters.

I really like this song. It touched me emotionally from the first time hearing it. Would it be too much to ask you what the meaning behind this song is? Is sunshine a reference for “life”?? Thank you so much for the quick accurate lesson😎

matt do you change your voices key when you sing higher? is that and example of key change mid song?
@mattcostaTV3 жыл бұрын
I sing a variation of the harmony when I go high in the last verse.

@@mattcostaTV I just dont understand music theory all that much and i play from tabs. I am playing your song and singing it right now as you were typing to me which is funny. I can sing it high and its hard to do some of it so i like that challenge. I got my thumbnail grown out a little so it helps with the picking pattern hitting those bass notes. I have seen guitars and pianos change key mid song.(what ever key means) but i want to know when you sing in the higher notes is that an example of your voice doing a "key change"? or are you just raising the pitch but keeping in the same key? Just trying to grasp some of this theory stuff thanks -Socal
