A fair few Q’s about the Speed Training transitioning to the Marathon Specific Training. I’m logging everything I’m doing here strava.app.link/Bx3RxJmuvMb

@@sweatelite OK mileage not that low for speed phase of training, so not much time needed to switch to high mileage. Savage. All marathon builds done in new places,now Chicago. Looks like a cool city. Hope you stay put now until after the race. You moved a lit in your previous builds, that just knocks ya up a bit when you're on the wire. As Sebi says it's a fine line between fit and f*cked :) ask your tri podcast buddy about that one :)

@@sweateliteI like everything besides the 100 mile weeks! I think mileage is overrated and risky. How many of the 100 are just miles to get to 100. With that said, I do believe that speed block and heat training will put you under 2:20 assuming cool conditions. Otherwise you like me are F….

If you are putting in that mileage and your body is carrying excess weight, it'll come off. If it doesn't, it doesn't. I've gone from 79kg to 76kg in each of my last 3 marathons in the last 6weeks. I don't chase the weight loss, I hope it comes off, but I don't force it. I'm also running Chicago '24, but this block I'm down mileage from my spring marathon, where I was pushing hard for my 1st BQ for 2025, and mostly just trying to maintain fitness this summer. Really hoping we both have a personally acceptable races at Chicago. Can't wait for the rest of the block recap!
@sweatelite3 ай бұрын
Historically this hasn’t happened for me, although it happens for most. Weight does not come off for me unless I have a plan on the diet front. But you’re right - for most it happens on its own, I think my body fat % is already so low that it’s now quite hard to drop further

This episode is really nice because it shows how is a very good thing to train with Matt Fox.As made that boy in this episode following him . Because he is a complete and humble athlete and a great motivator by mental and phisycal point of view,incouraging us,through his example,to arrive to the best performance in the race.I would like to train with him and his team for a 10 km. ( not marathon or semi marathon that are long distances and needs specifics trainings ).And Chicago is a good place for fast marathon and in general fir people that love to run.I hope that he makes a great result for all his commitment. Things are looking good, Matt! I hope the last 8 weeks of the build go smoothly and that you have all your chances to break 2:20. Do you have a fallback marathon should things go sideways in Chicago? I followed your advice and did another marathon one month after Paris in April which I tanked. Ended up improving my PB by 5min. I'll be doing the same in the fall 😉

Great workout! So many questions: How long will you stay at 100 miles/week? 3-4 weeks? Do you plan to taper with 3 weeks to go? What mileage will you do with 2 weeks before Chicago Marathon? With carbs - do you consume carbs the night before your workout or morning of your workout? Great work!! Hope to see you in October!👍🏃🏻♂️

Probably 6 weeks (from 8 weeks out til 2 weeks out) but will see how things progress, I'll have to adjust if I can't handle it very well. Taper with one week to go- I've never been one to respond to a long taper. Yes, I consume lots of carbs within about half a day of a hard workout. See you in October!

SODIUM 😂 You’ve even talked to the winner of the Indy marathon who said he takes in excessive sodium and it works. There’s no downside to it. You are an excessive sweater. Meaning you are losing a ton of electrolytes as well. It’s a no brainer 😅

Yes I was using ph1500 and still cramping. Switched to LMNT which has even more salt and I finally never cramp. I suppose you could also still use ph1500 and just make it more concentrated.

Do you sodium preload? PF did my sweat test and gave me sweating strategies/hydration as I am a SERIOUSLY heavy sweater. Being 93kg doesn’t help. Also I only cramp when I am spending too long above lactate threshold heart rate + when it’s hot.
