Good carb numbers for a proper carb load attempt. Too much fat though from the oily cookies, fatty granola and big oil sludge pizza slice the night before.

I think I read about this method of carb depletion, carb loading years ago in Charlie Speddings book. I could be wrong but it does seem to work.

OMGGGG THIS IS WHAT TRUE CARB LOADING IS LIKE !!! I may have commented on your instagram about following pros and the elite athletes, I honestly wouldn’t mind you just videoing your own workouts cause I just love watching your videos cause there wasn’t any music but just sounds of the striking foot steps.

Very impressive. You are very lucky to not have any GI issues, it’s the bane of my life 😢 one trick I’ve learnt over the years is as well as eating a lot of carb rich food, you can also pack in loads of carbs through sports drinks. That really helps me the day before the race when I need to be careful about what I eat but still need lots of carbs
@This_Is_Iozzo13 күн бұрын
Your content is always very interesting, honest, and relatable for a true amateur, not elite. Did you calculate your carb intake using a proportion based on your weight? Around 10-12g per kg, right? I’ve never gone beyond 8g/kg myself so far.

No I was in the elite field this time, drink tables at 8mi, 14mi and 20mi mark. 3 tables is great, every 5km is ideal

A little bit, not too much. Thursday was 2 days before, Friday 1 day before..

You've mentioned increasing sodium intake to combat cramps. It is worth experimenting increasing magnesium and potassium too. Deficiencies in both can cause cramps. So called electrolytes in running industry are often high in cheap sodium but low in the other two
@sweatelite13 күн бұрын
It may sound strange to hear, but I've not really fully experimented with electrolytes yet- and that's because it's a little bit hard to consume them in my position - I'm often not in elite fields (Chicago this year) so I don't get the drinks at every table but consuming something by swallowing or carrying a bottle running at 5:15/mi or 3:17/km is quite a challenge, a very large challenge if you don't have the ability to pick it up along the way. I'm hoping very soon I can get into a race with organised bottles every 5km so I can properly test a higher amount of sodium and magnesium
@midlandmatt12 күн бұрын
@sweatelite I'll be interested to see how that goes. As it happens I like a lot of foods high in magnesium and potassium, like avocado, coconut water, bananas, chia and nuts, so I'm going to try to increase intake in my diet in the week or so prior to race day

I may have missed it, but how many bowel movements did you have Thursday-Saturday? Do you take Imodium AD before the marathon?

Did you purposely cut back heavily of protein & fats in order to get the carbs in on those loading days? I find that whilst this helps take in a tonne of carbs, it can really heighten the insulin spike & make me feel like trash. To the point where I now prefer slightly less carbs with additional protein/fats.
@sweatelite14 күн бұрын
Yes, i just focused on the carbs. I'm not sure this is the right way to go about it though.

Eat 1kg of carbs in a day isnt very difficult, the difficult is to run the marathon in 2:18 one day after and not gain weigth 😂

Great video! Did you make a decision over avoiding loading with carb powder like the one from Precision Hydration? I didn’t have great luck with that this go around, but was wondering if it was just a bad day or it hurt my stomach (like eating too many gels). So for my second marathon this fall I used bagels. Also, I’m celiac, so I don’t have a choice, but was wondering if you had considered GF pasta for better digestion?

A friend recommended table sugar a few months ago, i tried it and loved it the way i felt in the workout and i've just used that ever since.

@@sweatelitetable sugar + cheap maltodextrin mixed to your consistency is exactly the same as nearly all branded stuff. It’s all a marketing gimmick.
