The band lived next door to us in Bedford back in the late 60s and early 70s. We all took a trip to Cape Breton and I got to be a roadie for them this one time. They were so cool that they played for us at Bedford Juinior High School. It was like a dream come true for a kid like me back then.

What a master we have lost! There is and won't be anyone to fill Richie Oakley's boots, he took them with him. To watch and listen to him was like a religious experience. We miss you so much Mr. Rock and Roll!!!!!!!!!1

In June 1975, Santana played in Moncton New Brunswick. Sam Moon , with Ritchie Oakley on guitar, opened the show. I was 14 years old, and the guitarmanship on that stage was freaking amazing. Yes Santana was Awesome. But Ritchie Oakley let everyone know that he did not have to take a back seat to anybody. Sam and the band were on fire that night and made it an incredible concert. Ritchie is gone too soon, but Thank you Sir for the wonderful memories and music. The concert was put together by Charlie Peters who was a family friend. Sadly Charlie also left us too soon. Sam and Ritchie are East Coast Legends. As a final note, i saw Ritchie, Sam and Trooper show up at a bar in Saint John after a concert and do some songs together. I wish someone had recorded that one. Thanks for posting this video.

I was at that concert and Sam Moon wasn't there. It was Soma with Frank MacKay. They got an encore before Santana came on. They were so deadly that night!!

Ditto. For me it started at the Steppenwolf concert on the old race track behind the Forum with Moon-Minglewood and Universal Power, then on to the Dirty O, the Misty Moon, The Wyse Owl Saturday jams, Shore Club weekends and just about every concert event that ever happened in the Maritimes...they were always there. These guys were/are ALL legends!

My 19th birthday was at Fred Tom's in the pier back in Sydney, Nova Scotia. The date was October 24, 1977. One of the best times I ever had at Fred Tom's was his " mortgage burning party". Now THAT night was a rockin' with " Me and The Boys".

Glad you found them.....Dig around and you never know what you'll find..... I lost a lot in the fire, but there are still a whack of videos from the last 35 years or so, and I'm finding more all the time when I have the time to sift through old tape. I'm actually in the process of setting up a BetaCam transfer workstation to salvage a roomful of old Much Music camera footage for a friend as well, so there should be a lot of 80s footage to enjoy in the upcoming months ( or years........there's a LOT of tape). I remember the Fibes and we have crossed paths a few times back in the Horse/Moon/Networks days (replace my KZbin names first letters with each other and it might sound more familiar)...... So there might even be footage of you there somewhere. Anyways.....Thanks for watching.....hope you find some more memories in the channel. Enjoy!

+Harry Jamm what a great song live back with samson in the day. I had the lp till about 5 years ago and gave it to a cape bretoner
np.... Matt Minglewood (guitarist on right and the one who made a Southern Rock bands song a Cape Breton anthem) is still playing, as is Wayne Nicholson (singer in center) who now fronts Wayne Nicholson and the Eastenders. You can find video of both as well as Oakley (Ritchies band that Wayne sang for)elsewhere in the channel....Thanks for watching :)
