Matt Monro - The Man with the Golden Voice (TV Documentary)

A musical biography featuring the life and voice of the incomparable British singer, Matt Monro.
Born Terence Edward Parsons in 1930, Matt Monro was an English singer who became one of the most popular entertainers on the international music scene during the 1950s and 1970s. Known as "The Man with the Golden Voice" he filled cabaret clubs and concert venues around the world during a thirty year career span. His Parlophone recordings include "Portrait of My Love", "My Kind of Girl", "Softly As I Leave You" and "Walk Away". He also recorded several significant film themes such as "From Russia with Love" for the James Bond film, "Born Free" for the film of the same name and "On Days Like These" for The Italian Job. His recording manager was the equally legendary George Martin. Monro was a heavy smoker and long battled alcoholism. He died from liver cancer in 1985 in London, aged 54. [Wikipedia]

Changing with the times is all good and well, he joined a genres that crooned his way into top echelons of his chosen profession, he will be remembered as Mr smooth for me, there is no one like him, rest easy Mr Munro!!

My late Father always sung Matt's songs, and a waitress one night walked up to him, my Father, and said "Excuse me Sir, Are you Matt Monro"? He was highly delighted. We saw Matt "Live" in around 1977-78 in Great Yarmouth. And now that my Father has passed away, and my Mother is Severely Disabled, and unable to speak. I go into the "Nursing Home" and play Matt's greatest hits, and it brings tears to my eyes, for my late Father, and how it comforts my Mother. God Bless you Matt for your "Beautiful Music, and smooth velvety tones. Even Sinatra said he was one of his "Greatest Crooner's" before he passed away. R.I.P Mr Parsons (AKA Matt Monro)

I've always felt it was strange he died shortly after being to America.!!!!! Place nobody on a pedestal as I did listening to the voice of Sinatra. There is evil big time in the most unlikely of venues,and the dealer of the deck might be the least likely of players.
