No, my friend, not wine. A champagne cognac or, maybe, an Islay whisky... He draws you in, makes you think he's not worth the effort when the tremble starts on the key change, then gets better than impressive, you say, 'Wow! This singing bus driver turned soldier really knows how to tell a story in song.' You realise, just as with strong spirits, that he knows his life and your's has been enhanced by his and then you cry... And amazingly feel better. How on Earth does that work? Regards.

I caught the train the other day and it was packed to the rafters, I was listening to Matt Monro through my head phones and became lost in the music. His voice was so rich and full of character just like the roast pork and beer that I had the night before. I failed to notice that I was farting right next to an elderly woman sitting beside me but to make matters worse whilst I was passing wind poos came out and dribbled from my seat to hers. This started a chain reaction of vomiting and the train had to be cancelled at the next stop but it was okay because I parked my purple car next to a brown one that was the same colour of the stain I left on the seat.

Different more modern genres certainly do as far as talent goes, but since each decade has their own culture and technology it's very hard to replicate. Look at the revival of 90s style rave music and how many nostalgia albums have come out atd it never quite sounds right even though it's the same talented producers from back in the day.

He was a crooner. Tom Jones is a better example of an actual singer.

Natural talent ,pure class .....should have made it bigger than some more well known singers but one of my favourites all the same.

What a voice, he should still be here showing today’s singers how it should be done.

I'm 62 and English and Italian. I remember on days like these from the Italian job as kid. Doesn't matter if his Italian wasn't great. As my mum said, and she was from Torino, his voice could cover the city in honey. Good enough for me.

I was eight years old when I met Matt monroe with my father .He was going into a public house across from the recording studio he had been recording in . My father was to shy to ask for his autograph and suggested I do it for him , I was just too shy as well . Anyway my father decided rather than lose the autograph he asked for it . Matt monroe was a real gentleman if I can remember correctly . I hadn’t a clue who he was . My father died in a hospital waiting room that night of a heart attack and I was bereft . I have loved Matt monroe ever since and his voice is unequivocally the finest Britain has ever had .. Every time I see him he reminds me of Reg Varney from on the busses ..? 😂 I am 56 now and still have goosebumps when I hear Matt . David

How can there be 375 people who are so soul dead that they can downvote this ultimate singer? Even if you are not a fan of his style, you can't fault his quality and top talent. One of the very best.

Was he a bus driver, that's great information, I heard of Frank Sinatra, daughter Nancy, but never Matt Munro, in case it's his voice that was natural & he made a good use of his.
