I’m glad Tua spoke his mind. Once Brian Flores told the world that he “was gifted by God” to coach, I knew exactly who he was. Brian was NOT passed over because he is a Black man. Phil..I appreciate your comments on Daniel’s rough plays….Im hangin with this young man and I believe in him. Compare his mental toughness to..let’s say..a Carson Wentz…and you have to appreciate that stoic inner strength… operating in the roughest market there is. Let’s GO Blue!!!!

Great show Phil and Matt. Phil, I've been a fan since the Giants days and I love your stories about Bill Parcels and the rest of the team. I hope you have a book about those days coming. Regarding DJs rough start, I'm a fan but it didn't surprise me at all that in game time speed, he would struggle, but not worried at all.

Mr. Simms , I remember when you had a tough 2 or 3 years in the beginning of your career, getting knocked out of games, I say that, to say you have 2 bowl rings, getting beat up and critics bad mouthing, then you took control ,I believe in coach and D.J.

@@ToneFury more like 7 years for Simms. It took other plays like Steve Young 11 years in their 30s to break out. Simms was drafted in 1979 and team wasn't really good unti his 7th season in 1985. I remember reading an article where i said the Giants looked to replace Simms completely after a knee tear and not even let him be backup behind Brunner. Sound familiar?

Ik DJ hasn’t shown he can do it at the highest level consistently but I’m excited for what he’s got this year. What looks like a decent off line that can give him a pocket and decent receivers that can get open. Hope he improves through the year and grows in this offense.

Many head coaches try to make a team conform to his idea of a winning team is, but they do not have the personal to fit that team. A smart head coach evaluates what his teams strengths and weaknesses are and contours a team to fit their talents.

Phil knows what it's like to be doubted by the fans and press during his career in NY. First Scott Brunner, then Jeff Rutledge, Jeff Hostetler, and finally Dave Brown. DJ needs to just keep chucking it and ignore the haters, what has he got to lose?

Matt, I don’t understand your reaction to TT and the turnaround with his new coach’s style of being supportive as opposed to highly critical. Even Phil told of how he appreciated when Parcells would tell him to keep slinging it after an interception or incompletion. Do you know of any successful business relationship or even a good marriage when one party is always critical or negative.

Before Terry Bradshaw won 4 superbowls, he threw more interceptions then Touchdowns in his first 5 years. It took Terry a long time to learn to stop forcing passes on broken plays. Jones needs to learn that. Sometimes if is smarter to eat the ball.

When you practice standing in the pocket for 4-5 seconds while looking at the target it translates into the game. On that INT to Hyatt he looked off to the left and there were no players doing any routes on the left. No effect on the defense, then you add an inaccurate ball.

who cares, preseason game, there was no gameplanning other than a plan to stretch the field which is the opposite of what teams usually do in the preseason. Jones has been accurate over his career.

Knowing the Giants were committed to Daniel Jones, I knew it was Nabors all the way, but it was apparent that Bo Nix was going to be the most NFL-ready QB of this class. Everything you both said about him was spot on and Payton-Nix is going to be a match made in heaven. Brian Daboll has to come up with game plans where DJ can settle into a game because imo he's a slow starter and needs to settle down and have the game slow down for him. It's terrific that Jones was able to come back from adversity and finish so strongly. Getting competent protection was also a key and if he can have confidence in that O-Line, he will get this team to the playoffs. He has the physical talent if he can just process faster under pressure in big moments, the Giants won't be looking at the next QB Class. Now, if they could only teach him to slide...

He improved against the 2nd defense, targeted Slayton in 2min, and one his scramble he turn his back and sat down into a hit short of the 1st. He’s talented, but not a natural at the position.

Jones had one good series last preseason and then they mentally protected him after paying him. How’d he start the year without coming back from injury? Did his great connection and chemistry with Waller translate to the season? Enough with the excuses and passes.

Daniel Jones last year had an offensive line that was rated the worst in history offensivelines ar 2:42 0 none of the offensive lives in his career have any good this is the first one if you as a quarterback got knocked in the head as many times as he had it would affect your decision making I think he has the ability to be one of the best quarterbacks in the league but he needs to be given the line and the receivers to do that give him a chance this year and see what happens I think he's going to excel now that's my own opinion but I'll tell you this won't be an experiment this is what's going to happen this quarterback has all the tools I don't care what the animals say I saw him I know he has all the tools and you are you have the right to have any opinion you want but give this guy a chance and then let's see what happens then talk any quarterback in the league would fail with finallyfinally they come up with a decent offensive line and hard knocks didn't help them I think the mirrors and the GM and the coach were wrong to have all this publicized this year I really think that they did him a tremendous disservice and they make it harder on their guy I don't know what the league put in for pressure but I am very disappointed in the mayor of family over this and I've always been a New York Giants fan I started rooting for them when the team was 2 and 12e one of the worst

It's more of the same for Daniel Jones. Remember when Brian Daboll threw the iPad at Jones last season? I predict more of the same in the upcoming season. The Giants will more than likely remain in sole possession of last place in the NFCE, and I hope that in 2025 the Giants will not have #8 on the roster. The Giants have the worst QB room in the entire NFL, they have 3 back-up QB's at best.

Remember when Daboll hugged Jones on the sideline while fans where chanting "Jones, Jones Jones!" vs the Colts? A couple weeks after Jones set an NFL playoff record for throwing for 300+ and rushing for 70+ in a playoff win. Remember when Daboll won NFL Coach of the Year with Jones as his QB?

@@Matt90541Matt, pretty sure we have tussled out here before but, remember how that 2022 offense was gimmicky and based on the run? Remember how in 23 the league figured it out and it didn't work anymore? While I understand why people love Jones, great kid, great role model, hardest worker on the team, and humble. I also get why people don't like him, rarely beats a good team, looks lost and indecisive at times, makes bad decisions, and throws a lot of pick sixes. It's go time though, the line looks improved, his receivers are improved, and he is the starter so no more excuses. He starts with 2 very winnable opponents and a good chance to build some momentum. Then it gets rough and we shall see.

Jones cannot win if he has to pass on second down. He does not have a breakaway receiver or he does not have a second or third plan with his receivers if the play is broken. and he can't throw to a receiver behind the line of scrimmage and be successful. Jones needs to use the deep drop more often, Finally, Jones needs to start chewing out his front 4 on the field. He needs to lose his temper with them right on the field. The front line needs to guarantee that they can get the running game 3 first downs in a row before Jones will throw a pass. That is what i would tell the front 4 if I was Jones. If the Giants can't get 3 first downs to open a game, they cannot win the game

These same commentators labeled Geno a bust when he was on the Jets...when its a white QB they give him every excuse in the book...Geno is 10x the QB Jones is and 1/3 his salary....

I wouldn't say he's 10x the QB of Jones but I always thought Geno was good. I think Jones is pretty good too, has a playoff win under his belt but hasn't unlocked his potential. If they just kept Geno on the Giants they would have been better off, Geno was making around veteran minimum...unbelievable deal for a QB. But fans and inner circle people were too emotional and pressured Mara.

I've only heard Simms say good stuff about Geno so not sure where you get that from: quick search online I got this: Simms: Geno Smith better than any QB in the 2014 draft class: "I think if Geno Smith was in this draft class he would be the number one guy, without question."

Matt, Phil, hi, as a long time Giants fan who can not understand how the franchise has been so bad for so long. I feel John Mara is a good man. But he does not know what he's doing. His father Wellington was smart enough to hire smart football people to run the football side. Phil since you retired the G-men haven't had a quarterback worth a dam. Giving Danny Dimes that contract in my opinion has Mara's influence all over it. DD works hard is soft spoken, low key guy.I get that. But we're going on year 6 and he's still making rookie mistakes. Philly, Dallas would of cut him loose years ago. So many mistakes Joe Judge, Gettleman. Even Shoen giving DD that contract which i feel was Maras decision. I know the franchise is super suce$$ful. But John Mara has to go away. And lets stop making excuses for DD......
