SciManDan observed that Matt Powell has a giant inflatable banana in his back yard that Powell calls "Doctor Peel". I maintain that Doctor Peel is actually a mad scientist who manifests in our spacetime as an inflatable banana -- and that Matt Powell is Doctor Peel's audio animatronic mechanoid that Doctor Peel is trying to use to take over the world!

To me the existence of Matt Powell disproves the existence of any god. No deity would possibly want him as a spokesman, and while he remains unstuck by lightning I remain convinced of that.

Technically, the existence of ANY apologist refutes the existence of the modern Christian God, since if that God actually existed, there would be no need for apologetics. You would be able to just point at God and say "there he is."

Every time Matt makes a statement, I respond with "prove it." Provide some supporting evidence (beyond "someone said they heard about someone who says they totally had an encounter with a god... thousands of years ago"), and we can have a conversation about it.

3:30 "But yet, when it comes down to the basic fundamental [sic] of science of time, space, and nature's origins..." I had an argument in the comments earlier this week regarding the laws of physics and the "unmoved mover" that religious apologists have been asserting since Aristotle came up with it... Newton's laws of motion are a fundamental aspect of physics which supplanted the Aristotelian model; the first law describes a physical situation in which there need not be an initial mover (objects already in motion remain in motion without an external force) and the third law defies that the mover even could be unmoved (equal and opposite reaction forces). "Poof!" THE F*** DID YOU JUST CALL ME, MATT?! _(Kidding, of course. I know he, specifically in this instance, didn't mean that as a slur.)_

It is hilarious when he appeals to the need for God's perfect justice. The only reason they even say that with a straight face is because their God's "justice" doesn't even kick in until we die. So they are removed enough to ignore what it actually is. If Matt's God was real, the only injustice that his God would punish, would be not believing in his God. And for that horrendous crime, the maximum conceivable punishment happens. For all the rest of the "minor" sins, the genocides, child abuses war mongering, basically any real crimes, there is no consequence at all. And even if the justice criteria was fair, waiting until an afterlife before any action, is a piss poor form of justice. I would agree that Powell is not low hanging fruit. Perhaps fruit that has fallen, fermented, rotted into compost, then sprouted a new fruit tree, only to produce more rotting fruit over and over and over. And not fruit would be palatable or useful for anything either.

You know Scarlett calling Mattie an idiot in the harsh manner you have done here is somehow still not harsh enough, and really going quite light on the total twat. It amazes me 5that someone like Mattie can even tie their shoes. I mean I don't tie shoes anymore either, an all me shoes are either rubber boots or Boa's, and I think even Boa's would be over Matties level of competency. I think Velcro probably still mystifies Mattie every time he puts his shoes on.

I don't know if I'd say it's "rude." The problem with people like Matt Powell is he has been corrected over and over. A lot of his arguments were already corrected before he came of age. The point of doing a bingo is this stuff comes up over and over again. Sure, you could do a bingo on anything - but what's your point? My point is the repetition of debunked nonsense. You can predict what kinds of things apologists will say and "make a bingo"
@eklektikTubb

@@scarlett8960 Yes, but you can also predict what kinds of things atheists will say and also "make a bingo". The repetition of negations, personal judgments and few other words and phrases... over and over again. The fair dialogue is about the same rights for both sides, such as the right to "make a bingo". I dont know if it is rude either, but even if it is, i think it might be worth it. 🙂 We all use negations, especially when trying to correct someone, but atheists and skeptics do it too often and too much. In order to convince someone that he is wrong you need to explain him why is he wrong, why do you think so and what should he believe instead.
@eklektikTubb
@eklektikTubb 2 ай бұрын
@@scarlett8960 I mean, this is easy: If you think that someone is wrong and he thinks that you are wrong, then you need a method to find out which of you is correct. And if that someone is using a different method, then you need to compare those two methods to tell which one is better. Bingo Card is definetly a fun method to show that your opponent is repeating himself and not bringing anything new to the table, but it shouldnt be used by someone who is also repeating himself and also not bringing anything new to the table. Because that would be hypocrisy and that is not good.
@scarlett8960

@@eklektikTubb Do you understand why atheists have to "repeat themselves"? It's because preachers keep bringing the same tired talking points. When they are debunked, they don't change. I have to wonder why you come to my channel if you think I am "bringing nothing new" and I'm not doing whatever you think I need to be doing. There are tons of KZbin channels for you to enjoy. You don't need to keep watching mine. But in case you didn't get it, my channel is primarily for snark purposes, to give other nonbelievers a laugh at the people who keep repeating themselves. By the way, I do state my method for getting to what is likely true, but my channel is small and people like Matt Powell are unlikely to care what I have to say.
