@@saveristovski1985 well for starters I used to be a Christian so I know how most think. I have read the bible. In basic training it was the only book we could read. The reason I'm not Christian anymore is because of "proof" which the bible is lacking. The bible was written by man. Who's to say they didnt just make stuff up to fit their needs like EVERY religion/belief/gods before them? There are too many logical inconsistencies in the bible. Issues that clearly exist because it was written by incompetent man. Pretty sure God would have seen the flaws if he gave it to them. Books can be useful, however fictional books like the bible are used for entertainment/persuasive purposes. Your entire belief in your religion is based on faith. Without it, you have no proof. Faith is not something you can use to prove god exist. I used to think I felt God's presence as a Christian. I can still have that euphoric feeling and not believe in him. Its all chemicals in the body, not God. If you actually used some critical thinking skills while reading the bible, you'd see how crazy religion is. Why carve out this part of the universe for the “sinners” by God’s standards? This is fear of a totalitarian God at its finest.
@joratto28334 жыл бұрын
@The Otaku Galaxy Well considering that within the Christian worldview, all fundamentally good things exist in heaven and with God, I don't see how that could possibly be the case. Within that worldview the analogy would be that the parents know what's best for the kid even if the kid doesn't, so even if somehow the kid just hates their parents and wants to "run away", it is still a negligent cruelty for the parents to allow their child to live on the streets. That is not mercy, and no amount of "free will" justifies it. That would be bad enough, except that not even that analogy makes sense, because people do not "choose" to be there. In fact, the kid usually doesn't even know their parents exist. The parents have not made any indication that their actions will actually lead them to hell (whatever you want to call hell). And still, their invisible parents banish them to the streets because of a system of rules that their kid does not even know exists, and that did not even HAVE to exist were it not for the parents coming up with those rules in the first place. You can do as many mental gymnastics as you want - every Abrahamic God would be a decidedly cruel being.
@joratto28334 жыл бұрын
The Otaku Galaxy The thing is that within that ontology we are but puny ants that don’t know any better. It is gross negligence and child abuse to simply let your child live in the streets even if they say they want to. The child will indeed eventually come around. And “God” expects us to believe in him based on books of prose and poetry from centuries ago, in a sea of countless identical books? The bible is not evidence any more than the Quran or the Vedic texts. Any belief system can claim they have the word of God and by the very fact that the majority of people on earth are not, for example, Christian, we can know that that is not sufficient evidence.

Idk about you but if i was a parent and had children i loved, but one of them only pretended I existed when they wanted something from me, it would break my heart. God is like that father who wants his children to learn to love him on their own so they can be together and form a beautiful relationship. At least, thats my interpretation

This is why I'm agnostic. We have no idea what set things into motion. I firmly believe whatever created this universe cares little about what we believe or feel. Just having the cognitive ability to experience this universe is all that I need. I also do not discredit religions for they were the imagined social orders that helped shaped the world as we know it today. Say what you will about this but our methods of thinking and philosophy has changed for the greater good. There is power within the religions but its only power that we create collectively and it's not something greater than ourselves. We only imagine it to be.

Agnostic means you don't know if there is a God. Knowing something and believing something can be different sometimes. If you believe that something set everything into motion and does not care what happens next, "the first mover", then you're a deist. Just like I'm an agnostic atheist; I don't KNOW if there's a god but I do not BELIEVE there is one. As for religion, well I think it is doing more harm than good in 2020. We needed it when it was 600 I guess, but not anymore. We know enough about our earth to believe only the things we know. We don't have to describe lightning as God's wrath anymore!

The Bible says he is like this. People need to stop cherry picking verses and read the whole Bible in its entirety of its context. Edit as of October 7th, 2024: It’s about time I make something clear. You people NEED TO READ THE WHOLE BIBLE IN IT’S ENTIRETY. CONTEXT IS KEY. God does NOT send people to Hell. People are already on their way to Hell. They’re tortured by their own guilt. Their guilt feels like fire. Give a man a fish, he’s fed for a day. Teach a man to fish, he’s fed for a lifetime. God has taught us how to receive His grace and save us from our sins. If you have got a problem with people going to Hell, don’t point your finger at God. You people get mad at God for letting murder and rape happen, for letting children hunger and thirst. You should instead take it up with those murderers and rapists. Why is it the obligation of God to stop rape and murder, when instead those who would rape and murder should not make those choices? Why scold God for letting children hunger and thirst, when YOU can give them food and water? Do not lie to yourselves. You have at least a few bucks to spare for a meal to give to someone. What of those celebrities with their many millions of dollars? Many children are without loving families, they’re orphans. Many veterans rely on donations because their government has deemed them useless and turned their backs on them. Veterans fought for you, isn’t the least that you can do is to provide them a single warm meal? Why even fight in wars? Soldiers are the pawns of old men who have petty arguments. People have died over land, over money, yet you point your fingers and blame God for it? He has the power to stop it, yes, but so do we. Imagine if all the Chinese citizens, the Russians, the Americans, Israelis, Palestinians, Ukrainians, just decided that they don’t want to kill each other any more. What then? Why don’t we just talk things out? We CAN. We CHOOSE not to. Against natural disasters, God can help us. Against war, famine, poverty, we can help each other. God doesn’t send people to Hell. We send ourselves. We can choose Heaven, everyone can, they just have to repent. And no, babies don’t go to Hell because they couldn’t repent, you people need to read the Bible. You wag your finger at me for defending my faith, but you should take a moment to examine things for yourself.

@@captainsprinkles6557 No he doesn’t. Jesus Christ was always the plan. Hell was not made for Mankind. God wants everyone in Heaven. He put himself in the place of everyone that deserves to go to Hell. God became a man to live the perfect life we all should live, and then he experienced all the pain we would have if we were judged. When we are judged, Jesus is put on trial and having lived the life we should have lived, he allows us to enter Heaven as pure beings after being forgiven. God exists outside of time and space, since he created time and space. Most of everyone before Jesus, was sentenced to Hell. God could not let them enter Heaven because they weren’t pure beings. It got so bad that God decided ti flood the world. That still didn’t fix things, and he hated seeing his children suffer for things they couldn’t control. So he took their place. Everyone that was ever in Hell, was given another chance, all they had to do was be truly sorry and willing to accept that Jesus saved them. People send themselves to Hell, but because God didn’t want that for his children, he decided to cheat his own rules and take our place.

Not preaching though, I am barely a religious person or a psychologist for that matter. Hope I helped. ;)

More like a when, or a musical note that makes the hair on my arm stick up. I believe that he'/it/when can make a rock so heavy that he/it/when cannot lift it. Then he/it/when will lift it after he has proven that it can be done. Not that he/it/when needs to prove anything - I just don't understand believers saying with God all things are possible and then they go and limit him = he can't look upon sin, he cant do that rock thing I mentioned, he can't make mistakes - why can't he make mistakes? Because WE say so? What a shitty thing to hang around the neck of someone we respect let alone worship in our own way. I cling to the all things are possible, that being the case God does not have to choose between being perfect and being mistake prone - all things are possible and just because I can't make it logically so only matters to this part of existence.... he/it/when can do both and also realizes me saying this is not to blaspheme or to insult - it is to release the self centered limitations we mortals place upon the Divine, that we cannot comprehend.

The whole point of Christianity is a relationship with the Father though the Holy spirit why way of the grace of God giving his Son as the perfect atonement for all of our sins. It was never about being good enough to avoid going to hell, that's pop "christianity" for you, it's a misconception even alot of "christians" have as well. Unfortunately when we make it about being good because "consequences" we miss the whole point. By putting our faith in our Savior and accepting his gift of salvation and by strengthening our relationship with him we can lead a more fulfilling meaningful life in which we can spread the good news to all who will hear. We do this not because we get some reward for bringing people to Christ, but because when you allow the Holy Spirit into your life He transforms you from the inside out; we share the gospel because we have learned to love those who we know not, those that persecute us, and everyone in between. Again, not because we're promised rewards, if anything we face mockery whenever we try to share the word of God. Really, there's no incentive to this. We deeply appreciate and thank the Lord for giving us the gift of salvation and when one comes to know the Lord in a personal relationship, we want everyone else to know the peace it brings to us as well. It also grieves us to bear the burden of knowing that people we love, people we meet, people we might not even know, are damned to hell due to the fallen nature of man that Adam and Eve put forth by disobeying God's commands not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. You see, God gave us free will; we choose to go our own way, make up deities in place of him, completely push away the idea of his existence, or we come to know him. This free will gives us the opportunity to find and reach out to him out of our own desire. After all, if we didn't have the free will to go our own way, and he forced us to worship him, that wouldn't be loving on his part, and neither would it be love on our part, it would be a master/slave relationship and that's not the type of relationship the Bible reveals to us that God has intended for. I hope this cleared up some stuff, but many people don't actually read their Bible and when you do it clarifies the picture tenfold over the doctrines and modifications that many churches throw in without any scripture to back it up. This is why christians really have to ACTUALLY read the Bible and not just rely on their pastors. God bless you all and I hope you guys have a pleasant day!

I find it interesting how god showed them a place that symbolises the flaws in each of their thinking. He showed the christian that the advancement of science and alternate religions and atheism is by god's will He showed the muslim that there is no chosen people and how arrogant it is to think that everything in the universe was created just for a few people He showed the atheist that it's impossible to fully understand and see what those in the past, those from when religions arose, saw and experienced. So you can't judge them so easily.

The problem I have in the video is the atheist is speaking to fake Christians and Fake Muslims. A Real Christian understands everything is by Gods design thus science is God's will as if God made the universe. than obviously he gave us the possibility to make technology lol, If you can't figure that out than that's ignorance (not you specifically lol). For the Muslim, if you read the Bible then you UNDERSTAND that the "Chosen People" are "Born Again Christians." The Bible is 1 story following 1 blood line to bring the saviour into the world. After Jesus died he made it very clear to get the message out to the rest of the world. The Chosen people aren't a Race, The Chosen People are those who belong to Christ and believe in him. people before Jesus was born were still Christians, as they were looking FORWARD to the Messiah, while we today look BACK at what he has done. They were all Christians, we only got the official name after Jesus Christ came to the world. As for the Atheist yeah most today are quick to judge, but if they actually just looked at the bible, understand the HISTORICAL EVIDENCE FOR ALOT OF THE STORIES IS REAL. than we can get a better understand. One important Historical evidence if you need one is the fact that it is true that 2000 years ago there was a man that lived named Jesus who died on a cross as Scientist have all the Evidence for it. NOW THE QUESTION IS, whether or not what he said was the truth, or was he really just a crazy dude. THAT, is what you need to look into. I have looked into it in my life and and more convinced than ever that anyone who says that there is no God as the bible says, is a fool.

Also my username reflects the fact that absolute measures on a small level don't exist, only probability and that I think that we can strive towards complete knowledge( I want to be a researcher) but we will probably never know everything and that absolute TRUTH is a human concept that doesn't exist per se. And this in a nutshell is what's wrong with Pascal's wager. If God does exist, we don't know what he/she/it really wants from us.
@Proud_Knight4 жыл бұрын
I think if there is a god and they wanted something specific from us, they would tell us in some way. Just another example showing if god exists, either they are not omnipotent or they are not totally benevolent. Epicurus' trilemma outlines this very well: *If God is unable to prevent evil, then he is not all-powerful.* *If God is not willing to prevent evil, then he is not all-good.* *If God is both willing and able to prevent evil, then why does evil exist?*
@rubymaster_68694 жыл бұрын
@@Proud_Knight This is a really good question, God seems to be all powerfull and able to prevent evil, atleast if we argue of the God in the Bible, he has stopped evil in the old testament before for an example the cananites with their child sacrifises, and he seems to be all powerful as he created the whole universe, but yeah, why does evil exist if that's the case? Well let's look at it this way, where did evil even come from? Well from the bible atleast, it comes from us humans, we were made in God's image, yet we choose to rebel and rule this earth as we want it to be, not how God wants it, and through out the whole bible we can see how immoral we really are, and we can even see that around us, wars, crimes, sex scandels, rape, tortureing people and so on. Now why doesn't God stop all of this? He can do it, so why not? Well let's go too Genesis, Adam and Eve were created in a good world as stated, they were warned not to take the fruit of the tree of good and evil, yet they choose to do it and rebeled, now let's imagine if God did stop them from taking the fruit, now what happened is that, Adam and Eve wanted to take the fruit, but God stoped them, ok moving on, now lets say they wanted to do this thing, and again God stoped them because it's evil and it continues and continues, the problem is, if God keeps stoping people from doing evil, he is ultimately taking our free will away, and we cant choose to do what we want, and that would make us more like robots then humans, because we arent allowed to choose our selves, this is the big issue with us and God, God wants us to be with him, but he doesn't force anyone to choose him, and we keep rebeling against him over and over and everyone will have to pay for their moral crimes, but even then God loves us, that he sent Jesus to die for our crimes, so we can go free and be with him if we choose to. More of the main point: God isn't stopping all the evil in the world, because we are the problem, and He wants us to be saved, more than we want it, yet He will let us choose where we want to spent eternity, with him or without him.
@rubymaster_68694 жыл бұрын

If He is willing and is unable, He is feeble, which is not in accordance with the character of God; if He is able and unwilling, He is envious, which is equally at variance with God; if He is neither willing nor able, He is both envious and feeble, and therefore not God; if He is both willing and able, which alone is suitable to God, from what source then are evils? To say that I believed in a God who is love and peace and grace and mercy, who took my sins on the Cross and took my payment of death away so that I could have eternal life with Him, and yet here I was surrounded by the needy and the hungry and the hurting, and I couldn’t do a thing about it. Granted, I’m only 20 and finding a stable job is kinda hard at the moment for me personally, but that is an excuse. That is an excuse I tell myself to make me feel better at the end of the day rather than face the fact that I’m a huge hypocrite. And this video just nailed this fact home for me. I don’t know if I’m making any sense, or if I’m just reaching, but I’ve had this ache in my heart for the longest time, and I’m so frustrated because I feel like I can’t do anything because I’m not in a position to be of any help. Sorry for the rant, but I’ve just been thinking about it and this video really inspired me to think more about my life, my views on my religion, and my future actions. I know this is really long, but I appreciate you taking the time to read this.

MATTHEW 25:31-40 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, "I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” (NIV)

I can explain it to you as ive come to understand it if you like. I cannot promise you will accept it though. Basically nothing does not exist which means there is always something. Because there is always something it means you will never find the end of existence. This means it goes on forever. This means it is infinite. If existence is infinite this means that everything must be happening all the time. Everything that could be is, will be and was at all given moments. This means that a version of you exists in every possible way. One of those ways is you. When you die you stop, but because you cannot become nothing and existence is limitless there will come a time when you begin again. When you die your consciousness will cease until you are no longer dead. You will not perceive any of the time in between. You will simply keep going uninterrupted with death being just a thing that happened. What other logical option is there when everything is without an end, when nothingness cannot exist. Once again god is not needed to explain things.

I mean, isn't that the trouble with belief in the first place? It would be nice to believe whatever was most convenient to us, and whatever made us happy - but that means ignoring reality in favor of things that are almost certainly not true (or that definitely are not). It would certainly make me happier to believe that we all have a mystical "soul," but all scientific evidence points towards the brain being the solitary thing that allows us to "be." Our consciousness, our memory, and everything that makes us capable of human thought and feeling are all contained within our brains, and upon death our brains stop functioning. There's no evidence that a soul exists, and no reason that it "needs" to exist, so therefore there cannot be an afterlife of any kind. At least based on current evidence. Sure, it might be possible that a soul "does" exist of course, but there's no rational reason to believe that it does. No more-so than believing that any particular God or Gods or supernatural spirits or such exists. Which is to say: there's zero evidence supporting the idea, and wishful thinking isn't evidence, as much as many of us wish it could be.

Most people have heard “Jesus/God loves you”. Does that mean they have a relationship with God and will go to heaven? Depends on the individual. A relationship is 2 sided, you receive love and you give love back. God showed His love by suffering, dying on the cross and rising from the dead for you, now you show Love back by repenting of your sins (lying, stealing, sexual sins, taking the Lord’s Name in vain etc) and believing in Jesus as your Lord and saviour so that Heaven is in your future not hell.

There are many atheists who are in a way , good role models for any religious person. They are the ones who do good deeds and follow a moral code not because they don't want to go to hell or they fear being punished by an omnipotent being but because its just in their nature.
@jimmathers79246 жыл бұрын
That's true, I've seen morally good atheists and morally corrupt religious people. In my opinion religion doesn't seem to directly relate to people's morality. Certain fears like hell may push someone toward "doing what's right" more, but so do social standards. I believe when it becomes socially unacceptable to express fear and anger in a destructive way, humans can reach a level of peace we haven't seen in a while.

Not for the sake of some higher-being, but just for the sake of how I want to live. That answer made her rock back on her feet, and she said "Wow...that's a much better answer than most Christians I know would give."

NDE's are as stated a product of a big brain. A lot of what you see hear and feel is not real, your brain fabricates it. Your mind cannot process the massive input our sense provide so it takes only snapshots and interpolates. When you are deprived of your senses or oxygen supply is low then your brain goes into a panic self preservation mode. It most likely throws together a movie to distract your sub conscience based on random shock memories and mixes thereof, with the intention of raising blood pressure etc.. These are indistinguishable from dreams and I do not see people saying that their dreams are real . If your mother was from Scandinavia in the time of Thor etc.. then her vision would of been completely different. The Hell she saw was the hell her mind had made as a result of being indoctrinated into believing such a place exists. What better way for your mind to try and kick you into consciousness than to use something it knows will frighten or shock you. Same as the dream of falling, this is summised to be your mind forcing you to wake up , again probably due to a lack of oxygen from poor breathing or sleep apnea etc..

Squatchy Lurkin' Consider this advice. They drill hell in deep. As your delusion fades there will be moments when you think of hell. So I ask, do you fear Thor's hell? God doesn't seek anything. He does not need anything. He could exist in His eternal state for eternity and never be bored, never be hungry, never be thirsty. God created us because He desired to. He did not need to give us free will and choice, He could have made do with robots that did His bidding. But being a good God and a just God, He knew that to do so would be neither of those things. Tell me, why would God force His presence on an atheist for all of eternity? The atheist chose to not believe in God, and make no mistake it is an active choice. The atheist chose to not have a relationship with God. The atheist chose to shun God and reject contact with Him. So how would it be good and just to force the atheist into heaven against their will to follow laws that they did not want to follow? The atheist made their choice. They want to be a slave to sin, not a servant of God. Hell is separation from God, all of God. That includes all of God's goodness and grace. Every good quality is stripped from you because all that is good comes from God, so to be separated from God means to be separated from good. That is why hell is torment. It isn't an active punishment. God isn't punishing people for refusing to worship Him. He is simply removing His presence from you. Being removed from Him *is* the torment. Being cast into the lake of fire on judgement day is the punishment. The wages of sin are death. Death is the punishment for sin, not torture and torment. Torture and torment is a result of your choice to leave God's presence, just as living on the streets is the result of your choice to run away from home.

Often during religious instruction, when a student dares to point out a difficulty or a real or apparent contradiction, the reply is that these things are ultimately beyond our understanding; they are mysteries of faith; and that we must rely on faith, which is often the same as renouncing critical thought.

Just take a step of independent thinking instead of taking this scripted film for sacred. It is praising Sam , the atheist, for not believing in him under the premise that Sam didnt know he existed and therefore didnt judge people for his religious beliefs. But there are a few points not logical about this. 1) Atheist in reality do judge people on their beliefs, atheist are belittleing God and are making jokes about his existence as "your imaginary sky guy" "fairy tail". They feel superiority over believers. Which is not brought up here, while it is brought uo how believers judge non believers. 2) in all religions it is God who sent a book, signs and messengers in form of prophets. And it is clear what his message is. So why would he condemn the believers who are following his words? Again no logical thought behind it. 3) if there is a God to exist, why would he not introduce a system of justice? The believers are criticized for believing in a system of reward & punishment (heaven or hell) ... they are criticized that God would be evil enough to send people to hell and therefore not worth to be praised... but why would a God, who oversees everything, would give the worst kind of people like mass murderers, rapists, cheaters and people who do tortue and other kind of harm emotionally, physically or societal the same treatment as someone who is virtuous and caring and kind, with what kind of reasoning would he give heaven to everyone? As a reward for those who behaved and were kind but also as a reward for those who betrayed cheated and exploited their way through life... why would he treat bad people the same way a speople who live good and are following values and rules that he has sent upon earth? Now you could say "maybe they weren't sent upon earth but made up by humans" but if a God would be to exist, why would he not intervene to stop people from following the wrong books, beliefs, values or gods? Well in Islam, God did exactly this. Everytime when people became misguided, lost faith or corrupted Gods message, he would send another messenger to remind humans from the truth. Now this becomes of course subjective, but as a muslim, our belief is that Mohammad was the last messenger and God sent the Quran to us, which has not been changed or "reformed" ever since it was delievered to us. It is why every Quran is exactly the same and always written in arabic, to avoid interpretational mistakes and corruptions in every country around the world for over 1000 years.

And you see why the top religions don't like this? - that is a sad statement of who we are right? It is like saying the best candidate gets the job regardless of gender or race etc But in a Corrupt official that's not good - he won't benefit That's the same problem religions face - if ALL good people are with God - God sees us for who we are as people, then religions will be out of business The only way is to corrupt the system - God starts dishing out favors only if you are with X religion Now what you do in life does not matter, values morals do not matter To me the frightening thing is the silence of the educated! Here are the top religions basically saying morals, values do not matter - only religion - and NOT ONE EDUCATED PERSON SPEAKS UP! Just amazing!

I mean it makes sense, if God is all-loving and compassionate, then torturing people for eternity would negate that idea. Though if there was a hell, I'd see it more as a rehabilitation/soul therapy than a firey pit of suffering.
@yorickdigsgraves88584 жыл бұрын
well the thing is, he's not the one torturing people in hell..that would go against his whole purpose, the reason people go to hell is because they reject their creator and because they do that they're basically saying "yeah I don't want anything to do with you and your love" so he lets them do whatever they want. Like when a parent tells you not to be drunk and drive at the same time, you have the choice not to listen but one option is death/immense pain and the other is peace and safety. It's not the parent's fault you basically spat in their face. See he wouldn't be respecting our free will if he didn't give us the option, but what option would there be if heaven and hell didn't exist? there would be no point of having free will.

@@princesaharr1529 no, God hasn't made "hell" it's not even a place. It is just a lack of God. @Splash • 20 years ago Everybody gets a chance to know God. Not everybody gets to hear about Christ and read Bible but that doesn't mean he/she will go to hell. It's all about actions and constantly looking for truth. You can't always see a reason to believe in Jesus Christ in particular but you always will have many reasons to believe there is something more, you'll always notice that our actions have to matter. If they don't, if there is no afterlife than everybody could just commit suicide and everything would be fine. No witnesses, noone to judge, world would keep going normalny without us. I want to believe that there is something more and it has to be dependent on our actions. You have to be able to 'win' in the game called Life. Not just by luck.
