I feel like I really understand the tone you gravitate towards after seeing so many of your videos and your reaction to guitars. Even though it's mahogany, this guitar sounds really similar to a lot of cocobolo/spruce guitars I've heard. It benefits from the slightly drier, more woody tone of the mahogany--remaining complex but leaving some of the overtones behind in favor of clarity and focus. Lovely guitar, I'm sure you're really happy with it!

I have a Furch/Stonebridge D34-SR Vintage Series Bluegrass dreadnought, and I absolutely love it. However, I can see why Bourgeois, Collings or Lowden are so popular. Not a big fan of Martins or Taylor - I played some, not to my liking at all. My Furch is a high end guitar for just 2k with a design similar to a Martin HD28, Collings D2H etc. But I would really love to at least once play a Bourgois - your playing inspires me to do so.

Yes, she's definitely a keeper. Congratulations. Beautiful playing! The most beautiful sounding guitar I've ever played was made by Steve Sauve. It's always hard to tell on Youtub but this one seems to have a similar sound. I find that i tend to focus more on the music with mahogany guitars, more on the sound of the guitar with rosewood.

Congratulations Matt. Is it 1-3/4" Nut 2-3/16" string spacing at the saddle ? . There is doubting the mahogany's strong fundamentals, and the detailed Italian spruce.
@eddiesguitars9 жыл бұрын
Dana's spacing is 1 3/4" nut x 2 5/16" bridge. Nice and wide, definitely my favorite. Cheers!
@tweedguitar91039 жыл бұрын
+eddiesguitarsstl Matt, you play just about every combination of tone woods available. Regarding your choice of Italian spruce, could you please share why you chose this over all the other species of top tone wood, and why you chose to marry this species with the mahogany ?
@eddiesguitars9 жыл бұрын
+tweed guitar well, I love the strong fundamentals and clarity of mahogany, specifically for recording purposes - so I knew I was going to start there. I've found Euro spruces to be my favorite because of their delicate sensitivity and increased level of harmonics. Adi and Sitka tend to be a bit dryer in nature. I thought that this combo would make a good balance of complexity and clarity while having great character. For my preferences, this is one of the strongest OMs I've played. I wish everyone could experience what I've all ready experienced with this instrument!

Incredible sounding instrument and fine guitar player. Enjoy it. :-)

Absolutely beautiful man. You should be proud. That's a Great guitar that is going to develop into a monster. Those good alpine tops get soooo good. Meanwhile they already sound 50 years old out the box. You definitely picked the right woods man. There is absolutely nothing better than a high quality, high altitude Swiss or Italian spruce top over Honduran Mahogany. Although I like prefer Swiss moon slightly more for my style. Slightly stiffer. Either way they're interchangeable at times. Same species. And I've seen super stiff Italian. But yeah, definitely the bets combo. It's like taking a great hog and mixing in rosewood. And that grain isn't that wide btw man. Same as my Martin D mahogany 09. Old growth Swiss alpine spruce instead of Italian but anyway the same. Tight across the top except the last 15 lines at the edges, that are slightly wider. Which is the way to go with the alpine it seems. Just a slightly wider grain, and not much, at the end. I also have more silking and cross hatching than I've ever seen on my top. Short, medium, long, deep rays. And then the cords hatching on spots looks like it wss knitted. Just crazy. That good alpine is something special and let's u know it has a history One small claw spot, and two bookmatced racing stripes, where ironically the grain is SUPER tight. Grain is super strait everywhere. Rough winters, good tops. And of course I have the katalox Bridge and fingerboard which I now like more than ebony. It's an oily ebony basically, and rings like African Blackwood. Plus my bracing is also high altitude Swiss moon alpine. First time they did that on the top and bracing. Anyway enjoy. Good choice 👍. Im in life with my Martin, but would love to have him build me one like you did. Just special

Hi David, It's blooming quality has definitely grown. It's got great sustain and clarity. The very top end trebles have mellowed just a bit and sound a little sweeter now than in this demo. Overall I couldn't be happier with it. I hope to add another Bourgeois in the next year or so.

eddiesguitarsstl guitar sounds amazing. How would this guitar differ in design from say a Martin OM 18 authentic? Could you tell the brace width on it? 1/4 or 5/16? I'm trying to find a hog OM and love this but not going to be able to drop that kind of money anytime soon.
