From 50+ years a industrial and farm equipment mechanic now retired, I've found welding a washer to the bolt first then a nut to that works much better. You can get a better weld in a washer to the bolt and on the outside of the nut to the washer. Plus double heating and cooling helps as well.

With Torx bolts look at the tip. Quite often they are slightly rounded. I grind the tip flat across. It helps the bit go in a little deeper and the sharp edge at the bottom also helps to keep it from stripping.

Robby, add a winch to the rear, either on the bumper on on that great bed. You may be able to get that from Harbor Freight. Don't they sponsor Matt? Also be sure that there are rear facing tow lights on the bumper to illuminate night time trailer hook-ups. Lastly, consider adding mounts above the bed for warning strobes and spot lights. You know the funny thing about back pain that I have learned, It might not be you back, especially if you have restless leg syndrome. You have lymphatic tubes that go through those muscles along the spine if they get clogged or your lymphatic vent in your sinus is clogged. It causes the lymph nodes next to your spine to swell and put pressure to make you think its your back hurting. I make actual silver water, pool shock for the human body. The water in our body turns green like a swimming pool, that's why we get sick. I was sick, my water was green and I had my usual backache, I have a 6" hard foam roller to roll my back on. For 5 years its always been crack, pop, manipulate on the roller to get out of pain. 2 weeks in on my silver water. I rolled my back and I rolled the muscles lining right side of my spine and I felt my sinus pressure up and a pop in my sinus and my backpain is gone. I rolled my left side, I could feel the air in my lymph tube being pushed out my sinus on the left. If you have a re occurring sinus infection in the same spot in your sinus, then your back problems could be from a sinus infection. Which is how I came up with my silver water to defeat a sinus infection.

18:40 .. I grew up on a farm my Dad fixed up a few trucks for flatbeds over the years .. he always used hardwood on top of (and parallel) to the frame rails, he'd run it through the planner until it was the perfect thickness .. Then he'd use 3" or 4" channel iron as the cross members, BUT with the "U" part of the channel iron facing UP And more hardwood planed to fit perfect inside the channel ... THEN bolt it all to the frame with long threaded rod (high grade stuff) ... Worked great!:) old school :)

this flat bed will eat up more than half of that f250's payload! 6.7l short bed 250 - probably 2000lbs payload. Def will want to replace that spring pack with a larger pack, or go airbags. With this extra weight, plus the gooseneck, it's going to squat a lot more than it already did. probably will ride on the bump stops at this point.

The bed looks great except the headache rack looks too high with the 2" rails now. Just my opinion though!

0:26 I thought it was really cool that Utah still had Sinclair stations. I still associate Sinclair stations with the Flintstones, lol. They've been gone from the Midwest for decades... Edit: Blue Steel's rear bumper being held on with zip-ties. Yep, sounds like MORR to me! 😁

We have a couple in the twin cities still. Most don’t have dinosaurs though. There are a bunch in Denver with dinosaurs.

There are quite a few left around the country. According to the Sinclair website there are 5 in Indiana, 6 in Illinois, 102 in Iowa, 34 in Kansas, 1 in Kentucky, 104 in Missouri, 97 in Nebraska, 125 in Oklahoma, 12 in North Dakota, 97 in South Dakota. And more in the Northeast, South, and out West.

That view where you see blue steel pulling the trailer showed me that the truck needs more spring in the rear.
