Just watched it and it was totally unacceptable. He should be fined and forced to apologise publicly. I guess he's under a lot of pressure but he's a professional snooker player and should act as such. That banging and crashing off camera. 'Mathew, stop'! Not sure if that was the ref or someone else pleading for him to stop. Poor Zizins looked a bit distraught.

this channel just really highlights what an embarrassingly bad job the tv channels and WST have done of marketing the sport and the players. people fall in love with characters and thats what inspires them to follow someone's career. the lifeless, godawful interviews we get on tv make every single player come across terribly. hopefully they learn some lessons from what stephen's doing here - there are some great characters in the sport, we need to know about them!

The reason for the number 16 (and 32, and so on) is because of bracket-building. As long as matches are 1-on-1, every tournament has to be built on binary-based brackets (at least in some form). The Top 16 are the players you'd generally expect (based on results) to get to the last-16 of any given tournament.
@juchetony1910 Жыл бұрын
unless you do a round robin stage, which they used to in the 1980s. I would quite like to see (for example) 10 groups of 5, top two going through from each group, then 4 groups of 5, top 2 going through, then a QF, at the worlds. Then the qualifiers all get at least 4 matches instead of one.
@kw91 Жыл бұрын
@@juchetony1910 round robin with 130 players ends up, more or less, looking like a champions league kinda format. For it to be more fairly done, it would take weeks. I think that's a bad idea to go for every tournament.
