Matt Stephens joins Sir Bradley Wiggins to revisit the Time Trial route where he won gold at the 2012 London Olympic Games. Just ten days after being crowned Tour de France champion in Paris, Brad put in a phenomenal performance that went down in history as one of the most perfectly executed races of all time, resulting in a gold medal on home roads.
Ten years later, Wiggo's memory of his race execution is impeccably sharp - almost as sharp as his impressions of Matt Stephens.

I find Brad’s self consciousness of his insecurities around his early 30’s very inspiring. Being able to acknowledge that at any point in life is an incredibly powerful thing. Great, truthful and insightful interview. Now sell me some goddam S-works 8s shoes please Sigma, cheers thanks x

best one yet, nice work Matt. I was fat and out of shape and just turned 40 when Brad won le tour. The way he was riding in the first few stages of that tdf inspired me to take up road cycling and get fit. Changed my life in a lot of ways. I cycled london to brussels the following year as a result of that inspiration getting me out on the bike. Still doing it today 10 years later. All thanks to Brad 👍

I once messaged Matt directly to thank him for making a video I loved, and he messaged me back! It was such a nice gesture and it made me love him all the more. Cycling can be an intimidating hobby to get into, with so much snobbery and douchebaggery, but here's a British national champion having a laugh at his own expense and being so relatable and approachable. He's the patron saint of the everyday joe giving it a go.

Absolutely brilliant video. Being honest I was never a fan of Brad until the last few years seeing and listening to him on Eurosport at the grand tours. This video showed he is a down to earth guy with same issues and passion as all us cyclists who just love the sport. I remember that day vividly, I was at work watching it on the TV with my then new to cycling boss, Watching each rider cross the line and catching a glimpse of my dear old Dad on the finishing line (he was the chief judge) was a personal moment of pride, seeing him briefly talking to Bradley in this video as he was looking for his family makes me smile.. another great Cafe ride, just wish Dad was still here to see it. Brad's a big lad. How he managed to get to 70kg and put out that power is bonkers. I'm 6ft 2 and got to 76kg once and people started worrying about me not eating enough. Interesting to hear how he wore his mod persona as a kind of shield. I remember him doing a radio show with Paul Weller, which I did enjoy but I think he found it a bit taxing...as would I have.

Froome was the go to number 1 rider the following season so that limited his road options on the team side and likely his desire. He attempted Paris Roubaix a couple of times (and did well), won the World TT, broke the hour record, and of course won gold on the track in the 2016 Olympics and World's madison with Cavendish in 2016 also, bringing his career back full circle.

There was talk at the time of him going to BMC to take on the tour in a new team. It would have been super cool to see him go against sky and Froome. It’s cool to win TT’s and be on an Olympic pursuit team, but id rather have seen another tour win or attempt. I think part of it was getting down to sub 70kg, you’ve got to be all in year round when you’re not naturally a smaller rider

He took the time to have a photo taken with my Winnie the Pooh teddy with a freshly knitted yellow jersey when we tapped on the window... He had already jumped into the team Jag after launching his baseball cap in to the crowd to escape the hoards (Saw a young Peter Sagan who nobody was crowding round at that point) Thanks for taking the time to do that Brad. Aah, now i know how to guage ones effort. In the 70`s it was riding as hard as you could untill a taste of blood appeared in your mouth. (I believe i´ve heard anyway) In the 80`s, the more "flobb" around ones mouth and hanging off your chin, the harder you were trying, then you really knew you were going really motoring. Now it`s wittled down to peering at a little screen and doing some number crunching, whilst trying to look cool and composed of course. I just never had enough flobb hanging off my chin, obviously. Cracking video, laughed loads , as usual. Matt And Brad really know how put a smile on your face.

Phenomenal cafe ride (I've enjoyed them all). Two great storytellers and a wealth of cycling history between you. Beautifully shot and edited, too.

My brother shaved his facial hair off because he reckoned it was making him look older, it was grey etc, he was receiving comments by others, which he found uncomfortable. Matt needs to deal with ...............

Always thought of Wiggins as a bit of a twat. But watching this interview humanised him beautifully and changed my opinion. His vulnerability in sharing his own insecurities as a human is inspiring. Glad I watched this.

Wonderful to be reminded of such happy times. Thank you to all concerned for making this. Next show could be a competitive cook off'. Not cycling related but damn that would entertain.

Every now and again you see something that makes you realise why you ride. The laughs, the stories and the sheer joy of good company with a like minded passion. I absoloutly loved this and was in tears of laughter at the end. Absolute legends!

Just watched this again, Brilliant. Only Brad could pick up his bike by the seat post in a Classic white top with such nonchalant and not have the imprint of the chainring on his back. Not that I've ever done that ;)

I'm surprised there were no road rage incidents ... motorists normally do not take two cyclists side by side without hooting, close overtaking and expletives, Wiggins or not ....

What a brilliant watch. Funny, insightful and great detail about the tactics that delivered the Gold. That amount of watts for almost an hour!? Matt Stephens a brilliant interviewer.
