Matt Vincent interviewing Chris Duffin on stability and hip mobility - part one
In Part 1 of the Meathead Mobility series, Matt Vincent and Chris Duffin dive deep into the critical foundation of stability in strength training. This episode explores why stability is a key component for building strength, improving mobility, and enhancing overall athletic performance. Whether you're lifting, throwing, or just moving throughout the day, stability is essential for safety, efficiency, and longevity in training.
Matt, a seasoned Highland Games athlete, shares his experiences and lessons on how stability plays a role in his training and performance. Chris Duffin, renowned for his expertise in strength training and biomechanics, provides valuable insights on how to develop stability at the core and throughout the body to maximize power transfer and prevent injury.
The duo also covers practical exercises and drills that can help athletes improve their stability, laying the groundwork for better lifts, improved movement patterns, and injury prevention. If you want to take your training to the next level and ensure a strong, stable foundation, this episode is a must-watch.

Hi chris, i have been having very deep rooted issues with ankle mobility for the whole of my powerlifting journey that have caused low back and hip injuries multiple times, i am a personal trainer so i see these issues occur in many other people but to my knowledge, my case is the worst case i have ever seen, do you have any specific mobility drills for increased ankle dorsiflexion in squats specifically? I have done massive amounts of research and work on this area to no avail. Would love a response, thank you.

Not sure to understand what the oblique should do when breathing in and out. Should they move outward (like a balloon) or should they stay contracted. Because i really don't see how to make them move outward.

Hey Chris, I'm able to get my rib cage into that position quite easily and breath into my diaphragm, however once I get heavy weight onto my back before a squat I'm unable to get into that same position.

If you can do the work for engineering without going to school you mist be crazy smart. Physics and calculus are difficult subjects for anyone. Plus they do a lot of " weeding out" in engineering.
