So true! Super jelly of their gorgeous hair. I can't grow my hair past my shoulders or it is so thin I look sickly. Such an amazing talent to blend these two types of music. And thanks to KZbin the whole world gets to hear them. Imagine not having this opportunity?

2 Artists from two Turkic tribes met here to make a kind of ancient turkic music with old Turkic instruments. I am Turkish and understand everything that Ummet Özcan sings (he sings about ancient deities from Turkic mythology in a very ancient Turkish dialect). I also understand some words that Otyken members sing, such as “dağlar” (mountains), even though both tribes have become geographically distant from each other over thousands of years.Their languages, which have the same origin, have also developed independently of one another. But the instruments that are played here are known to all Turkic peoples, such as the "ikili" which refers to the number 2 (iki in Türkiye) because the instrument has 2 strings. The Turkish Bağlama/Saz is similar to the ikili but has 6 - 7 strings. The area around the Altay Mountains is the original home of many Turkic tribes and Otyken (Ötüken) is the legendary first capital of all Turkic people. This area is sacred to most Turkic tribes. The way Özcan sings is called throat singing and is a traditional way of singing among the Turkic and Mongolian peoples. Here are the names of some goddess and gods Özcan sings about *Tengri = Sky god. He is the creator of everything. Tengri was the main god of the Turkic pantheon who controlled the Celestial sphere. *Kayra or Kaira = Supreme God of the Universe *Adaghan = Mountain God. *Ülgen or Ulgen = God of goodness. Kayra's son. *Mergen = God of wisdom. Kayra's son. *Kyzaghan/Kızagan = God of war of the *Umay = Goddess of fertility. She is also the goddess of virginity and therefore relates to women, mothers and children. *Kuara = God of Thunder *Kubai/Kübey = Goddess of birth and children. It protects women who give birth. She gives soul to children. *Koyash/Kuyaş = Sun God. Koyash is the son of Sky Tengri and the Earth Goddess. *Ak Ana = (Ak means White) Goddess of Creation. She is the primitive creator-goddess of the Turkish people. She is known as the goddess of water. *Ay Ata = God of the Moon. Gun Ana/Gün Ana = Goddess of the Sun. *Yel Ana = Goddess of Wind *Yer Ata = God of Earth ...

As you get to know them more you come to realise how multi-talented they are. Many of the members have multiple musical talents. Love everything they have done so far. The ladies are walking advertisements to visit Siberia, must be something in the water or the wild Honey their tribe is renowned for. BTW, Ummet is throat singing the Turkish pantheon.

More throat singing you can find in the Mongolian band The Hu (= Human or People), for example at Wolf Totem and, specially, at their collaboration with the metal American singer Lzzy Hale in Song of Women. Otyken (Otookien - these are Russian, not Latin alphabet characters) have an extended and list of musics, impossible ro resume, all differents: traditional (Lord of Honey or Legend), jazz (Wild Girls - native jazz from Siberia live), rave (Belief), traditional with a bit of rap (Pulse), (almost) pure rock (Khan Blues) and the phenomenal Phenomenon. I love them!
