He has grown in to a beautiful stallion. It is good to take him out. It is good experience and socialization for him. Well socialized stallions are happy stallions.
@MBrusaZappellini5 жыл бұрын
Leons Lioness NZ so true- It’s so upsetting to see stallions being cooped up in a stall- there was one in my old stable in Italy who was super frustrated because he was always in his stall and there were mares all around him- poor guy, he was also too thin, from all the pacing and anxious sulking. An absolute tragedy, and a clueless owner (who did absolutely nothing with him - she just liked having a stallion.) I didn’t last very long at that stable- could not support the ignorance.

Honestly though, better safe than sorry. I'd rather spend the $50 and 2 minutes/ride booting my horses than feeling guilty when they get an easily preventable injury, in to of seeing them in needless pain and having unnecessary veterinary bills. Had the previous owners had that same philosophy, my now 4-year-old thoroughbred wouldn't have sustained a career ending injury at the entirely too young age of 3. Not to mention some of the - easily preventable - gruesome heel and pastern injuries I've seen horses suffer from a simple slip/trip/spook.

As someone who spent a lot of money and several months on a tiny 1/2 inch cut on my mare's cannon that turned into a huge disgusting wound with proudflesh, I think boots are a brilliant idea. I will need to keep them in mind next time I move her (she's retired).

Such a good boy! I want to warn you, of something you probably already know but probably forgot at the time. NEVER, EVER lead a horse with a loop in the lead line like you had when loading him. This is especially important when leading a horse into something that might frighten them. I had a friend (a very experienced horsewoman) that lost a thumb because she did not follow this rule! Hold the rope so that if the horse pulls back and you don't have control, the lead can leave your hand without strangling your hand, fingers or thumb. This is especially important for you to do on camera as you are an example. I'm loving your videos which is surprising since my background is not English/dressage, but rather western. The training methods are similar except we ride with a mostly loose rein. (We do start foals in much the same way, however.) Once again, loving the videos -- Emporio is amazing just the type of stallion I had hoped to have someday. It's looking less and less likely that that will happen (I'm 61 with really bad osteoarthritis).

A little tip: If you are standing in front of a horse, you signal the horse to stop. Turn next time to the side, then it comes more to the trailer.

Even if I was born in Normandy (France), where horses are quite numerous, I know nothing about them. However, I find your videos very pleasant, this horse is just beautiful.
