My horse stepped back going through a gate and somehow came scrapped down on the outside of my right ankle.. riding bareback and barefoot of course =)) it took years for the feeling to come back right.

I would hang some inexpensive plastic sheeting right under the wire's to catch the droppings. Narrow strips, but wide enough to do the job. Then they can be thrown away after the babies fledge and leave. They nest there because it is safe and secure. They are magnificent bug catchers and need all the help they can get to keep thier populations up like most migrating bird's

I've always thought that although Emporio is bigger, stunningly beautiful, talented & a magnificent animal, Etro is the working gold mine! Etro has a calm intelligence about him & an "I can do anything" confident, patient expression. He is the one who will surprise everyone as he continues to mature. He's a rare gem & Matt saw this in him from the very beginning! Way to go Matt, with your excellent eye for 'the right one'!!! 👍 (and besides ... Etro is totally in love with Jesse, a true sign of uncommon good sense & excellent good taste!) 💖😃💖!

I haven't seen videos of this horse before but he looks incredibly relaxed and flexible. Even his lower lip is flopping around in trot. Jesse is a really nice, gentle and kind rider. I like seeing how easy and soft it looks! Zero pulling and tugging, just soft still hands. Amazing!

Two excellent riders, but with different styles and used to riding different horses. Two friends who love to squabble (nicely). Etro, a magnificent, sensitive and very gentle stallion. 2:08 pro tip from someone with lots of similar birds (we have swallows): add a piece of wooden board right under their nests to catch all the poop, you can even paint it white, so it will be almost unnoticeable looking from below. Here, no stable would feel complete without them, I love their chirping and they hatch eegs twice per season. Here it is forbidden by law to remove any nests, as they are endangered, but if your car or anything is underneath their "home entrance" it is absolutely going to look disastrous after a few weeks. Another strategy is to buy artificial nests (there are specific ones for this species available) and place them strategically somewhere where it doesn't bother you as much and hope they accept your offer (the clay and water they need to build their nests is harder and harder to come by for them as well, so sometimes they are glad if they find an already exisiting place to stay).

The birds are Barn Swallows! 😂 They make their nests with mud and bits of hair and string and whatever else they can find. The little fledglings can get caught up in the hair and string and get hurt, so we always get a ladder and cut all the strings & dangling hair.

The swallows leave South Africa around about April and migrate to Europe because we are going into our winter then and then start returning to South Africa around about October. I love them and every year there is a pair that come back to their nest on our verandah. There is a point near our airport where they all meet up with each other and then they migrate together. It's amazing.

The Stable I volunteer at is a Horse Rescue and apparently we have a rare kind of barn swallow that the local university studies. It is not unusual to have students quietly sitting in corners observing or even in small tents in the barn! They have done it for at least the two years I’ve been there so apparently it is valuable data😊

Been thinking ever since the last video of your announcement of leasing the stables... you have been tweaking up your home stables and the grounds are just stunning for a horse 'hobby' farm. You are limited there. I've watched you two long enough to know that horses are your lives. Leasing is the next step to ownership where a large place could expand & fulfil all your needs, as well as house all your horses (personal/sale/client). My guess you are on the road to sell your home and make the new stables home. A little at a time, it too will be a outstanding destination and hub of activity. A friend of mine has the same problem. She hangs buckets under the nests which really helps with the problem. They can also catch a baby bird that may wander too close to the edge.

Jesse naturally gets everything he rides forward in the beginning, and the horses enjoy that . He appears to have great feel and knows when to gently start framing up and moving forward. As you know it’s a gift with the breed . if they get stuck going up and down and not softly forward opening the shoulder it looks a mess . Good job Jesse

I feel Matt always forgets they both ride so different. Ofc Jesse doesnt ride in the sport dressage style, he wont instinctively cue the horse as Matt would. I do love Jesses patience and respect he has it for all horses despite Matts criticisms

Always lovely to see Jesse ride Matt's horses, I just wish he could do it his own way. But I also understand why Matt insists on doing things the same way he does, as to keep the training consistent and not "confuse" him. I just have a feeling that Jesse probably doesn't (or never has) taken a serious dressage lesson like that, and even if he did, probably not in english so he might not be sure what Matt's asking of him sometimes? Or maybe he just doesn't enjoy this style of riding as much and prefers to connect with a horse in a different way. Either way, love the two of you and always happy to see whatever content you share! So excited to hear everything else u have planned for the future!

Jesse, you really are a very good rider who has great instincts and connections with any horse. I think Etro is used to the use of the spurs and your usual rising method of just legs on was making the difference that Matt was noticing in his "forwardness. I understand the lack of desire for the spurs. He really looked a great size for you too. Well done!

I think it's really hard for any rider to get on a horse and be placed under scrutiny right away, without having a chance to test the feel, aids and reactions etc. I thought Jesse did an excellent job. I would have been interested in seeing his comments about himself while he watches the footage. Would be curious to see side by side footage of Matt riding Etro and Jesse riding Etro too.
