Would love to see a video digging deeper into what is going on here. Especially when related to packaged builds. There's a lot of information out there now on how to coax the engine to handle what you need it to handle, but a lot of them don't consider how it pans out when packaging. I mean, who builds games to play them in PIE? Not the customer, that's for sure. All informations regarding the engine, should always take a nod towards how things will pan out when the project is packaged, otherwise, making things work only in PIE, are not always in fact solutions for the project proper.

Texture streaming pool exhaustion is only a problem on the editor side since UE5 is CONSTANTLY caching everything you open to make your work faster and efficient. You open a texture, cached, you open a blueprint, cached, you open an animation, cached, so it starts to pile up super fast. But in my opinion its really an issue, sometimes I open the editor and I already have exhaustion, my pc is mid but still this shouldnt be a problem!

Very helpful. It's also a great way to set a limit to how far you want to push the limits for your scene. My understanding is that it's only using 1000 megabytes of video ram by default so you could imagine a player with such a video card set up.

I have both a 2060 and 3060ti In my PC, I have to crank my texture pool to like 10,000 for my map to not show the message. Also It seems most trees/foliage you can get from the marketplace are very resource intensive so making your map have a forest/jungle takes insane resources and in my case makes everything super laggy. I just want a large open world but that seems nearly impossible

@@Galvatorrix The trick is hills, cliffs, rocks and mountains. You need to a keep natural feel while keeping the player from being able to see too much in any direction. Nanite should be able to work magic for the far distance views.

@PatrickTheDM I get that, I have those elements in my maps. But I would like to learn how to trim the fat sort of speak so the editor doesnt lag as much while im world building, I have discord if anyones interested

@@Galvatorrix If by chance you have your project stored on a seperate SSD from your editor/engine that can be the cause of slow down while working. Especially with decent specs

That doesn't "Fix" the issue, that increases the technical requirements for the assets in the scene.

True, but one has to wonder: for these kinds of Megascan assets that go overboard with the detail... who in their right mind would run this on a 1GB GPU? Setting it to 2gb doesn't help me in the framerate department, but even then I find this default budget ridiculously low for large map/open world

KZbin closed captions displays "texas swimming pool" instead of texture streaming pool" lol!

Dang I hate when they burry things in the console. Is there a permenat way to change this? I've edited the engine in file in the past, but I dislike do that as well. But thanks this was a lifesaver.

It's temporary. Once you package your game/build you'll need to optimize whatever taking up this.

You can put a fix for this issue in the engine settings as well, to be persistant. don't know the exact command at the moment :)

Problem: Not enough space inside the house. Your solution: Get a bigger house. KInda what the whole industry does at the moment. The reason why games are huge and laggy. I was hoping to show us how to optimize for the same pool size.

@@Rodutchi let's say you have a gpu with 4gb Vram. Unreal engine by default can only use 1gb of that but if you increase it then it can potentially use all of it (the set amount)
