Just goes to show you. Anybody can be anybody on any given day. This should be an eye-opener that regardless of college and rank you should never count these "inferior" lesser known colleges out, regardless of any season cuz they can surprise you, I always show respect for the underdog regardless of the outcome, I know it's just one game, but seriously kudos to Illinois for being 28.00 point underdogs and winning the first ever win against a ranked opponent. Never count the underdogs out.

@@naterybar9106 the bigger schools have more resources, more money, more exposure. All true. But the game is decided in a field of 120 per 53,5 yards, and you don't win before. NIU played hard, sticked to their guns and was competent, came out with a win. NIU can be proud of their CFB road. Maybe that's their compensation for not being a bowl bound team in 2003, when they had their best team to date and after defeating Maryland, Iowa State and Alabama (at Bryant Denny) was not invited to a bowl game

I knew a guy back in the 90's. He was the center for Northern Illinois. No scholarship. School,football, work, sleep and repeat . I've watched Northern Illinois over the years. They know football and they are never really a bad team. If your a top tier team and you think your going to take a break the week you play them , You will lose. College football WAS the best sport on earth but now I can’t watch my team play a simple preseason game. I pay for KZbin TV AND dish network and I can’t watch the ducks play Boise State because it’s being broadcasted on PEACOCK! And no fucking way I’m paying for Peacock for 1 fucking game. People need to start calling out this bullshit with the networks. They all decide to carry a few games each and then try and charge everyone for each individual service if I wanna watch every game this year. Last 20 years all I needed was dish network and I got to see any game I wanted throughout the entire country. Networks and money is going to ruin college football.
