the theory behind pickin your bike up from behind is you use less energy by using your legs. whether it works or not i have no idea lol Or the kids dont have the upper strength to pick it up normally.

Yes it's mostly meant for heavier bikes. Dirt bikes don't weight a ton but it's a good habit to save your' back. Lord knows the lower back gets enough abuse during the rest of the race
