My Honda CR-V 28.3 mpg, my Dodge Ram 2500 diesel 18.6 mpg. An overdrive unit will greatly improve the fuel economy of the Dodge. Thank you for showing us the Alucab and awning. My truck may have a similar setup soon.

Thank you for all this info, like all your video, very useful. I just buy Quick Picth rtt and Awning. I m from Canada and at the end of March I m fix the gear on my Tacoma Offroad. I think this gear are great one like Alu-Cab. My canopy are Alu-Cab Explorer canopy. I love this set up . And yes this kind of set up ( QUICK PITCH RTT and Awing) are expensive, but for my first is User-friendly, second Safety during night time for wildlife. Canada we have less dangerous wildlife than Africa, but Bear wolf coyote... can by a problem. And this country are not Dry land ... rains frequently so RTT are very the user-friendly for all lot of factors. And when you make a lot of moving it is fun to have faster set up.... but all of this think are different for each people. The best set up is the set up you make for your personal use.

Thanks Matt, very informative and thanks for the honest insights! Having used both, a RTT is still better from a convenience point of view in my opinion. PS; What sand track are those in the video you’re using?

Before I sold it my Dodge Ram 3500 was getting 19 miles per gallon. That was with a tool box and 110 gallon transfer tank. It was a 4x4 dually. The tools in the box was close to 1500 pounds.

And lastly. 12ltrs per hundred isn’t bad.. I don’t have a RTT, but I do tow a 1.9 ton Bushwakka camper trailer behind my 4.0 FJ. My FJ gets 11.4 litres per hundred. When I have the trailer on, it goes up to around 13-14 max. Unless (and it’s happened a few times) we hit hectic wind. The worst I ever saw then was 18liters! But I was pushing to get home. If the wind picks up. I generally tap off. Cruise at 80 and my fuel consumption stays the same….

I didnt think an alucab was worth it. Then i spent 2 summers overlanding and changing campsites every day or two with an ARB tent. I now own an alucab tent and its worth every penny.

That’s pretty good gas mileage even with all the weight compared to what I get with my off-road Jeep. If my math is correct you get about 18 miles per gallon with all your weight. I get 16 miles per gallon with only bigger tires, upgraded suspension and winch system. I’m the USA as you probably guessed
