The write up you mentioned is actually correct, and most of it is brand driven: Transformers Optimus Prime refers to the character (most likely a Hasbro requirement to have Transformers in front) Optimus Prime (G1) refers to the toy (which explains why they added the "The" in the first mention, most likely also a Hasbro ask to add the G1) the other parts are Hot wheels brand talk: Metal/Metal refers to Metal body, metal chassis, Full graphics means tampo graphics on top of the spectraflame (which is trademark name for hot wheels metallic paint) and Real riders have been the trademark wheels name for hot wheels since day one. it still is not worth $80 though.

I used to belong to RLC club many years ago and they had a Gucci Hot Wheels that was retailed at $249.00. So I can see Mattel putting this 1:64 Optimus Prime at $80 dollars. Only thing that looks great on him is the shiny chrome that Mattel usually does for most of their RLC cars. It’s probably because of the chrome paint they put on each of the Optimus that is making them so pricey.

@RialVestro5 ай бұрын
I would like to point out that really wouldn't please both MIB collectors. The reason being that you actually have to take the toy out of the packaging, transform it and then put it back in the packaging which completely defeats the purpose of having it MIB. That's not a MIB figure at that point, it's a previously openly and lightly played with figure. You can only call it MIB if you never open it so actual MIB collectors would have to leave it in truck mode as a Hotwheel because that's how it comes packaged originally. If you want to display it in robot mode in the Transformers style packing you can do that but you can't call it MIB because you would have to open it to get it there. I personally don't care, I don't keep Transformers MIB and I don't think there are too many MIB collectors in the community so it's probably a smart idea that it's packaged on the Hotwheels side because there's more of a MIB collector community for Hotwheels than there are for Transformers.

My big question is... with Hasbro and Mattel officially working together on collaborative toys where's the really obvious one that should have been the first thing they made together. If you don't know what I'm talking about then you either don't know Transformers, don't know Mattel's most popular brand, or both. Look at G1 Arcee's vehicle mode, look at her color scheme, and tell me why the first collaborative toy these companies have made together isn't an Arcee that transforms into the Barbie dream car? Hasbro literally ripped off Mattel when they designed Arcee, they made her more futuristic in design so it's not exactly the Barbie dream car but that's totally the Barbie Dream Car and now they have an opportunity with the license to legitimately make it Barbie's dream car. When I first heard that Hasbro and Mattel were collaborating together my first thought is Hasbro is going to produce an Arcee figure that transforms into the Barbie Dream car and Mattel is going to produce a non-transforming version of Arcee's G1 vehicle mode that's in scale for Barbie and Ken to be able to ride in. How has that not happened yet? I could even see Mattel making a Barbie that can cosplay as Arcee. Arcee essentially is Hasbro making a Barbie knock off so it's weird to me that they aren't doing anything with the character now that they can legally go all out on that Barbie homage.
