The reason the plates are smaller is because the shoulder joints are inside the body, whereas on the original figures it was outside the body.

Yeah it's absolutely due to the arms pegging in vs the old ones that had the pegs going out.

4:21 I believe the answer is quite simple, the old figures had the connection peg to the arms coming out of the torso. This new figures have the peg in the arm going in the torso, that leaves very little room for anything else. But that's obvious and probably not what you are asking, you are probably asking: why didn't Mattel designers change the peg system and left enough room for a bigger spinning cylinder? To that they'll probably say: to maintain compatibility with the rest of the line and you can change parts. I also going to say: so their didn't have to tool new parts and increase the price of the figure.

The only thing I wish they'd included on the Skeletor is the skirt armor. I think that would look awesome on the battle armor version.

The shoulder slots are visible up top because the articulation point is no longer on the bottom but at the center of the arm hole. The arms do not come off of the battle armor versions

I loved these figures in the late 80s & love them now. Skeletors face needs some black shadowing & the small damage drums are off but they’re still great. Especially the vac metal battle damage variant

Hey big guy this is sledgemaster. I like ur video because its clean for a whole family and young people in the church. I do agree about the size of the chest and I grew up with the old heman figures and I collect they. I'm trying to get more for my museum. I like the twist of the wast of the he-man. Great video!!! You’re totally right about the smaller Battle-Damage chest plates. I don’t get why they did that either- I doubt it cost more to widen the flipping barrel vs adding more “bezel” to their main suits. I really do wish (esp. Skeletor) that they’d give them proper OH heads! Even the added heads, which I do appreciate over the trash Ape-He-Man with awful sculpt and color (they said it was an Alcala homage? Not even close!), and the first Skeletor with open-mouth looks possibly more lame: the paint line meant to show his teeth don’t even reach the length of the teeth! I left both original editions on the store pegs. The 2nd pack-in heads are a huge improvement! He-Man looks like he could even add 2 + 2, possibly reaching a sum of 4! And you can’t beat the original, vintage head sculpt. Not sure how skulls frown, but I’ll take it over the silly open-mouth. Again, unless Mattel is planning to use the exact same barrel die for other toys/Hot-Wheels “Crack ‘em ups”, I see no logic. Glad they added extra hands to grip both weapons (can his shield clip-on too?), and very thrilled that MOTU is back on shelves! However, kids today still have *zero* frame of reference for who/what the Fudge Factory these characters are! Netflix needs to get its butt in gear, preferably 5th gear, to get both new MOTU cartoons out: within 2 MONTHS, Kevin Smith! 2 months! Or the line could die all over again! KIDS DON’t READ COMICS! Boo-hop! ADAPT! Fast! These toys were planned to ramp directly up to the new cartoons AND the new movie, which is apparently dead again. My guess is that young punk director brothers, the Nees, blew all their advance $ on hookers and cocaine. Sorry, Centino, but you were never a good choice, just a cheap one. Kelan Lutz deserves, wants, and would be perfect on all levels, and he actually has been open about *wanting* the role (as a big actual fan VS Nee’s and Centino). Mattel and Sony can blame only so much on covid. Things should be a year into production if they were serious. And if the toys have no context for kids to give a fart, like the NETFLIX CARTOONS (I often want to line every Netflix writer, director and executive up and ride past on Battle-Cat, slapping every single one of them in the face! Followed by a claw-handed Skeletor astride Panthor doing the same! I can think of many others! I worry about Kevin Smith, as he’s an emotionally free-floating Social Justice Warrior who cries all the time! Kevin, please dig your balls out of whatever jar they’ve been in since Mallrats, inject them with Propecia, man-up and get tough about MAKING YOUR MOTU SHOW! I’m waiting to hear what Sony and the Nees have to say! 2 years and zero progress aside from hiring a twink who tore his ACL soon after training? Kid, go back to Nickelodeon and Disney movies/TV, at least until your (very serious injury heals: ACL IS SERIOUS!). The fact is, as I’ve stated, if KIDS HAVE NO idea what MOTU is, the characters, world, mythos to care about, it’ll all be dead again by September. *CARE OR CONCEDE*, Mattel! Sony too!

I understand why they had to shrink down the battle damage gimmick, but I feel that it was enough of a concession that they shouldn't have tried these at all. I'd have gladly sacrificed some arm functionality to have that feature be as prominent as the vintage one; these ones just look ridiculous.

Agreed. It would have been better to give them different shoulder joints and increased the size of the logos. Maybe they could have gotten away with leaving the battle area small like that, but paint the actual emblem bleeding out to the edge of the chest so that only the very middle of the emblem is damaged.

I heard they narrowed it because of the way the arms are attached to fit in the new figures take up room inside, so the drums inside the chests are smaller.

I think these look great, I heard some of the he man had funky painted eyes, wonder what all is in series 5? I saw on some Germany website a few weeks back that Faker and Green Goddess were part of it, I'm hoping Whiplash, Clawful, Buzz off and Jitsu are coming, as I kid I have really fond memories of buying those 4 in particular

I remember the “action “ he-man was the only prince adam to find. I had the regular skelator. But it was so depressing having him. Never found the regular he - man (prince adam). That’s probably why I say: pass. But these are awesome. & I like the extras. Especially if you are paying more.

The standard face of this Battle Armor He-Man is frankly the worst of the entire line. What they were thinking when they approved it? It's compensated by the classic face, but having another half sword is a bummer.

Can we just talk about battle cats articulation...? Or rather the complete and total lack thereof. One of the lamest figures ever conceived. And they used the exact same fking mold for skeletors panther that they covered in a purple velvety finish. Great paint. Horrible castings made as cheaply as possible.

I’m going to talk about it when I get Panthor in the mail. Ankle articulation really would have helped the cats. I thought Battle Cat was going to amazing when I saw it, but after opening him up I was disappointed out how limited his movement is.
