There's almost like a 12 Labors of Hercules of mess-ups to learning to bake. * You burn one. * You undercook one. * You lose a ring/fake nail/band aid in a cake. * You overfill the pan and have it spill all over the bottom of the oven. * You forget to grease the pan and whatever you make turns into cement and won't come out. * You have one fail because you learn your leavener (yeast, baking soda, baking powder) was too old. * Having a heart attack over thinking a recipe won't work only to have it come together at the last minute is somewhere around step five. They only way out is through; you just gotta suffer them all.

This is poetic justice for all the times that Matteo gave notes on Nick’s baking 😂 P.S. You could totally have a portrait of Cathy Mitchell in the kitchen. Just saying. P.P.S. Crumble and Cobblers are from the same family of dessert (fresh fruit x baking) but differs from how it’s assembled in the final stages. Also, Dan Souza can help you understand the Baking Powder/Soda conundrum.

I would put the peaches onto the melted butter in the baking dish and then spoon the batter on top. I would also season the peaches with ginger and cloves. But it looked good for a beginner's first attempt!
@celtprincess13Ай бұрын
Matteo wailing "There's TOO MUCH butter, Chris!" is giving me life. Matteo, darling, the problem was cobbler goes in a deeper pan. Tart pans are for, wait for it, tarts only (usually). Glad it turned out though!

Tip for cobbler. Cook down the fruit and add that to the dish. Add the crust, whether it is a biscuit dough or cake type crust, and then dot the butter on top. Then you can bake it. It's really delicious, and you get pockets of buttery goodness. That is how I make mine.
@yogawithsaraАй бұрын
Great job, Matteo! The instructions telling you to melt the butter in the baking dish and then mixing the batter into that was the recipe author’s attempt to make one less dirty dish but honestly I would have just melted the butter in the microwave. This was much less stressful to watch than Nick baking without a recipe!

Matteo, you're a delight to watch no matter what you're making or watching! As a former pastry chef, I think you made a buckle, not a cobbler, but it looked scrumptious anyway (cobbler has fruit on the bottom, biscuit dough on top)! Some people are saying you made a clafoutis, but that's an eggy custard batter, not flour-based. Pardon my nerding! 🤓 Also, your kitchen ware is highly enviable ❤

6:19 "This is half sugar half salt"... which is almost an ingrediant for a pickling solution which is basically 4 part vinegar, 4 part water, 1 part sugar, 1/4 part salt. A Pickling solution is used to pickle vegatables. When used with vegatables, other spices and herbs can be added. It can also be used to clean metals such as copper and silver. Of course if you're using it as a metal cleaner, omit the spices/herbs.

I’m so shocked! I have some baking experience, especially with cobblers, so throughout the video, I was ready for Matteo to fail. Something seemed very off with the recipe. Nothing looked like it would work. I appreciated that he put foil under the pan in the oven because we all thought it could be a disaster. But then… the final product turned out amazing! I didn’t expect that at all. I’m used to cobblers with a crumbly topping made from oats, brown sugar, and butter, but now I’m excited to try this recipe too.
