Even 10 years ago he played superbly, but over time he became more mature and precise. I think his musical education leads to jazz because this is all good fun for him. Maybe like Frank Gambale did.

@@fontanajazz Indeed! I have been hrough the back catalog of pieces he was playing at around the age of 16 and it was just mind-blowing. One piece which really leapt out was his playing a country rock piece on a Tele. Flawless - just brilliant. And i like Vince Gill et al. There is something about his mind - the agility, speed of thought and who knows how many thousands of hours of practice to be able to express his thoughts.

Ok so I am seeing perhaps the early years of the greatest guitarist that has ever lived. Superb musicians all three, but technically, no one in Matteo Mancuso's sphere can touch him at the moment - and there are plenty of greats, still killing it - it is just that this guy seems able to play just about anything with a level of clarity and rapidity we had yet to witness and dare I say, are now, because of him, beginning to expect...This kid has changed ALL the parameters. This unerring fluidity and relentless focus, were we to spend the rest of our lives, all day and night, learning to play alla Matteo, we would be fortunate to attain even 1% of his ability to execute. He is the absolute definition of owning the moment. Simply astonishing. Bravo Matteo, you are from another planet, I wish you every success 🤘🤘🤘🤘
@fontanajazzАй бұрын
Thanks, it's amazing how much our thoughts match. I claim that there is no worthy competitor for Matteo and that it goes without saying that he is the GOAT. A kid who already holds notable master classes and writes transcriptions of complex melodic lines for fun. A musician who plays even better live than in the studio... Hats off!
@GreenDistantStarАй бұрын
@@fontanajazz it really depends upon how you define 'GOAT', or 'best'. As regards technical facility, Matteo is certainly incredibly gifted. His versatility is phenomenal, in this regard he has only a handful of current peers. Until recently, one might question whether all this translates into stellar music. There's been plenty of folks with amazing technique who are forgotten because they didn't have a song in them. Matteo's recent compositions now put this question to rest. His longevity? Who's to say? That's another factor in 'GOAT'. I think it's too early to tell if Matteo should be considered the GOAT. Steve Morse ticks every box noted above, he's surely a contender. Allan Holdsworth is many great guitarists' GOAT. If you ever watched Jeff Beck live, you'd ask yourself many questions about who the GOAT really is. For me, it's Shawn Lane.
