Matterhorn Gotthard Railway (MGB) between Zermatt, Visp and Brig

The Mattherhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGB) operates the narrow gauge (1m track) and Rack-Rail Line from the Rhone Valley (Brig/Visp) to the world famous village of Zermatt, next to the Matterhorn. Five cog rail sections are used by the train to climb from 650 meters over sea level (Visp) to 1605m (Zermatt)
The clips were captured in june 2022 in Zermatt, Täsch, Randa, Herbriggen, St. Niklaus, Visp and Brig.
You still can see a lot of different trains with locomotive types HGe 4/4 (Regional trains, Cargo trains and Glacier Express from St. Moritz and Chur (Rhaetian Railway)), Deh 4/4 I and II and modern Stadler Railcars. The classic trains will mainly dissapear when more modern Stadler Railcars are delivered after autumn 2022.

26:13-30:23 betreen Stalden and Ackersand
30:24-30:51 Visp (SBB Connection Station)
30:52-31:58 Brig

Thank you. A wonderful record of the former BVZ section of the MGB as it is today. As with the Allegra units on the RhB, this line will lose a lot of character when the Stadler units take over the majority of the services. When I started visiting Switzerland, the RhB was using 14 of its 15 Krokodiles, the FO nos. 31 to 37 and the BVZ nos. 11 to 15 all in daily service. Not even been to Switzerland since 2012 though. Not saying the railways shouldn't keep modernising but I no longer find them of interest. Still, there's the model railway upstairs that will never see an Allegra or Stadler unit.
