We're running late, the airport closes at sunset, and we can't even file a flight plan. Stall the Diamond DA62 and tour the factory before a night on the town in Vienna.

I'm an ex Private pilot in my 60's, a current avionics L.A.M.E., love the new glass cockpits, but uncomfortable without old analogue backup ASI, VSI & altimeter & of course compass, stuff that doesn't need electrons. These Lads are a great inspiration to their peers :-)

I found your channel because I view aviation videos and YT put you up as a suggestion. Fantastic adventure. I'm pushing 79 years of age and I'm a former owner of a Cessna 210 (picked it up new at the factory in Wichita and flew her home to Boston).BTW, I wanted a Beech Bonanza but preferred the high, cantilevered wing with an unobstructed view from the cockpit of the C-210. The three of you are interesting: Louie eats fruits and nuts, JD eats chips and drinks water and Matt eats candy and cookies and drinks Coke. I am amazed by your lack of general knowledge of the places you are visiting. I would have thought that you guys would have Googled each country and place on your itinerary BEFORE your trip. Matt's reference to Dunkirk was the movie...you should think about the thousands of young men (your age) who died on those beaches to give you the freedom to do what you are doing. My late uncle flew across the English Channel many times as a US Army Air Force (yes, the Air Force was originally a part of the Army before becoming its own branch of the military). He became the youngest Capitan in the Army Air Force simply because all of the other pilots were being killed in battle. As a co-pilot, he returned to base in England with his Capitan dead in his seat. He came home with "battle fatigue" (now called PTSD). I really like the avionics on your 210. I learned to navigate with VOR and dead reckoning. When you briefly lost your avionics, my first thought was can they figure out where they are without the avionics? I envy you three young men and have enjoyed your adventure very much. I realize your trip is long over but I wish you well on your future adventures.

When I was in the US Air Force I was stationed @ Zweibrucken Air Base , Germany the fighter jets were stored in the concrete buildings covered with grass to camouflage them so the jets couldn't be seen from the air. Before the US took over the base in ' 69 it had been built by the Canadian Air Force . My base was closed in the mid 90's & the buildings the jets were stored in most of them are still standing. Most of the buildings that were on the base have been torn down. The runways still exist.

Matt, you're production quality is really amazing and I'm a hyper critical person. I love the mix of listening to the radio, watching the flight dynamics, and seeing a peek of each destination as a traveler. You've really nailed the right balance and much respect for figuring out that extremely elusive formula. All the best.

You have iPads to work with the onboard avionics, phones to work with the iPads, watches to work with the phones. At one point you were wondering if you were looking at the Rhine. It seems like a jumble of precision.

I had to laugh a little about your experience on a commercial flight for the first time...going from being totally independent of someone else flying the plane and taking charge, to all of a sudden allowing your fate to be in the hands of a stranger at the controls. I enjoy watching the freedom you have at such a young age. I'm at the opposite end of the age bracket and need another lifetime to achieve all that I want to do....like getting my PPL. Over the last 10 years I have flown nothing but commercial over 50 times all around the Pacific rim and back to the US on those long 15 hour flights. All the best Matt!

The round trip hike from Stans to Pilatus Kulm and back (of course on foot the whole way) was really worth it - so many good memories. It’s been a while since I looked at the performance numbers, but doesn’t it have the same engines as the DA-42, which means it isn’t going to get you anywhere very fast. The style and accommodations are nice, really like the FADEC and Jet A is cheaper, but it needs more power and if it had beta, that would be awesome.

Brilliant compilation ... loved it ... and have been particularly impressed by your cover of Vienna, switching to real music with real old school instruments capturing the atmosphere perfectly. It's a very refreshing escape from the plastic and elevator music, which would have ruined it. I forgot how beautiful the city is ... have to go there again, it is a 4 hour car ride or 1.5 hr flight with a C172 from where I live. I saw three kids (I'm 50+ so go with it...) trying to go transatlantic in a 210 and I said to myself I have GOT to see this. That was indeed an epic leg(s) and makes me wanna hit Iceland and Greenland - maybe find some relatives! I miss flying right seat with my dad in Baja in his Rockwell Commander and then later in his 227. That was a fast job but a little noisy with the engines front and rear. Our most epic trip was down to La Paz to watch the full solar eclipse in 1991. I bribed the tower with $20 and a bag of M&Ms and we were the first cleared to the active after the eclipse..! Good times... Great bit of filming - I felt like I was along for the ride. Those survival suits were a hassle but so very necessary just in case. The pitot clog was a problem but luckily the heating and rebooting while you were more or less VFR did the trick.

Love this video, and the entire series. I learned a lot, was totally entertained, and realized I need to finally get my pilots license. Thank you! A question: In the entire flight you were able to fly in relatively smooth air between cloud layers. I had always assumed you needed to be at FLs near 200 to find comfortable flying air. Can a GA pilot generally find smooth air in the altitudes you flew (Like 070) ?

Even though Louis is the guy who managed to get the sponsors to pay for the entire trip, he is more like a passenger/child, paying no or very little attention on what his friends are actually working on assure a safe trip. I miss him the least. But maybe he took beautiful photos which would have occasionally been to distracting for those in charge of flying - and he is a good passenger, stays calm and quiet when they need to focus, make decisions and communicate them with ATC. I love to see Matt and JP handling all the planning, flying and communications - it seems like JP nailed every single touch down to its perfection - amazing - Congratulations!

The hangers at the beginning are called PASs or HASs, which are Protective Aircraft Shelter and Hardened Aircraft Shelter. They're used all over Europe on military bases.

I have a question and a suggestion. The question; how do you eat so much and stay so slim ? My suggestion; fly into the airport in BROMONT, QUEBEC, CANADA and try the restaurant ( called Bistro M). Absolutely top notch BUT not open every day so call ahead. This is about 40 miles due east of Montreal. Love your videos, Bonanza is an awesome single engine and I would fly anywhere with you, feeling safe and confident. Cheers and happy flying.
