9 years ago the love of my life passed away at 29 years old. Her and I grew up together and in the 5th grade told her I’d marry her someday. 2 months after we graduate high school we got married. The day I proposed was on the 3rd of July just before the fireworks started. And we got married one year for that day. A few years after she had passed away I heard this song and it had everything I was feeling all at once even after a few years later. It’s been quite a few years later now and while it’s still just me and my dogs I love to hear this song. It reminds me of a chapter in life that while painful there was definitely something good that come out of it. Thanks for writing this song.

I had almost exactly the same situation, the love of my life passed at 29, we met at 14 & 15 (our birthdays are 3 days apart) My husband used to say- There were a few lucky people in this world that got to be a part of the TLC Club (true love club), members can always spot other members, and I know you both had your membership cards. Those bricks we carry are always there, some days they're lighter, some days heavy, but always there...

Not many artists can sound better live than on an album, but he does. Lovely voice.

12 years on, I'm still listening. Matt's acoustic version with sister Jill hits me harder than his piono original. Haunting harmonies. Beautiful.

a lot of ppl associate this song with a specific movie. I was fortunate to stumble upon this beautiful song while intensely searching for a beautiful love song.... When I found the version by Mathew my heart was absolutely shattered.. and it pained me greatly to listen to this song due to various circumstances and reasons. Eventually after the pain this song became my *move on song*. The lyrics and metaphors made me stronger. I then stumbled upon the beautiful version with Jill many years later. When Jill joins in there is an extra feeling of hope ( already achieved my Mathew of course).. after the pain, hurt this song became hope and motivations. btw I liked it. I am apparently number 888

I first heard this at the end of a true crime story about Phillip Markoff, a young man with seemingly everything going for him, that through his actions destroyed his own life. It was so sad but so apt. I must have watched that a hundred times just so I could hear this song. The lyrics are beautiful. Thank you. Saved, subscribed, and shared. 11/15/22

The music has been the contextual soul of the Continuum story... but of the dozens of outstanding songs which have held the show, this song is the one. Extraordinary!

I wish I knew the full meaning of this song. I've been kicking it around in my head for a few years and have a few ideas but never nailed down the complete meaning. I guess the only one who will ever know the meaning is Matthew. What a great song!

For those who wanted chords, here it is as best I can figure: Capo on 1st fret or for pianists Transpose it to Eb instead of E major (down one semitone). Start of Verse: E, B, A..... C#m, B, E..... this sequence plays twice. Middle of verse: (does it lift...) A, B, c#m....... A, B, C#m End of Verse: (where did it begin....) E, B, A...... C#m, B, E These are the only chords trhoughout but he plays with the order a bit. Let me know if you need more details. Enjoy.

Don't want to seem fussy with all the work you did but it's easier to play it like him. DON'T tune down a semi tone. Capo 1st fret use chord shapes... D,A,G,Bm,A,D Repeat then G,A,D,G,A,Bm,D,A,G,Bm,A,D.

Tell me what you think, tell me what you feel Is this thing a fake, or is it for real Is it what you hoped for, what you dreamed Is it something strange, that you never seen Does it lift you up, closer to the light Does it send you raging into the night Where did it begin, will it ever end Where the sun sets and the river bends Where the river bends, is a place I've been The water's not as blue, and the grass well it ain't so green The current gets strong, it can pull you down You gotta swim hard, if you want to turn around But i don't want to go there, baby not with you I'm happy right here, now I got a love that's true So let's stay awhile, and invite our friends No one needs to go where the river bends No No No No No No No No No No No No I don't want to go there, baby ever again I'm gonna be with you right here till the very end So let's stay forever and ever and ever amen No one needs to go where the river bends No No No No No No No No No
