Props to Gardiner for a great performance. The 300 is an oddball race at best, why they even run it is a quandary. The 100, 200, 400, 800 are all the respected distances. Also the outside lane is the most favorable. Had he won from another lane would have been more impressive.

The one & ONLY reason I don’t put a lot of stock in this race is because it’s not a standard distance. Meaning everyone doesn’t know how to run it. That being said, that time is undeniable. We might not see a WR in the sprints but I still think we’re gonna get a few freaky times before the year’s over.

In reality, Lyles is only the blink of an eye away from Bolts time, its nothing if he has his mind right & of course gets the track n weather conditions required. Kerley is in the mid 9.70s just goofing around trying out the 100m, he too is just a blink of an eye away from Bolt. Never say never.

@vernonfrance2974
@vernonfrance2974 5 ай бұрын
Only three can make the podium. Because most of the top finishers in the individual finals usually don't want to try to do relays as well, that leaves the door open for those a cut below. That's how Boling got two gold medals last year in the men's 400m and the mixed 400 m. There's nothing wrong with that.

@@HEAVYCHEVY409 I agree with you because there are more top 400 runners who will be willing to run in the Finals of theOlympics than in the World Championships. Also, like what happened in the men's relay World Championships last year Boling and a few others ran in the prelims but not in the final. They still get a gold medal the same as the ones who run in the final. I am merely pointing out that he made the two 400 relay teams last year and got two gold medals. The USA t only won the mixed relay because Fempke Bol fell down just before the finish line and the Netherlands didn't medal as a result.

The 300 is pointless. The 200 proves top speed endurance. The 400 proves general sprint endurance. The 300 adds nothing. Plus, the 300 would be awkward to setup on an outdoor track. They would have to stagger the straight away and the outside runner would run more turn. It’s a useful training distance. That’s it.
