I love this song to pieces. I was driving to Elora the other day, and had this song on repeat on my iPod. Matthew's lyrics are fantastic. All the time.

My friend fell off the Elora gorge lol he survived, but prob 5 years before you wrote this comment. Random to see Elora mentioned, but given your listening to Matt good, likely the same Elora

I always wonder if Matt is ever reading these comments. If you are, please know how much your music means to all of us- I'm a better person for having listened to your lyrics and heard your melodies.

Remember downloading this on Napster in 2002 or something. When B-Sides were tough to find and you would find these hidden gems on the internetand your mind was blown.

for many years I went to every concert I could ... whether ballet dancing or making love his music fits. Sadly my final concert was in Ottawa before the pandemic... I have since relocated... unless Matthew travels across the pond to play in Portugal.. I will put you guys and gals up in beautiful Nazare

I've only ever liked Matt's music because of his imaginative lyrics. But you're right, these early songs are like stories told through song.

it all ends up like everything else, I guess you are what you are you do what you do and you get what you get somewhere short of regret I looked out over the bay at the water and the lights and I noticed we had gone to great lengths but not to great heights and only the crier cries at the break of dawn I stood boxing my shadow thinking how to get along so to yourself or another man to who you belong when there's nothing left to fight is it easier to be right when you know you're wrong

One day when you decompose, you wake up and those birds are singing ! I always thought and hope it works like that lol.
