Don't even need to be a top level player to show a bit of aggression and tenacity. Barrett and Chomper's are clueless. Luke Parker's taunt is insulting and so it should be when an opposition player questions your courage which he is clearly right about.

That last night really made me question as to why I’ve been paying a membership for 15 years, donated money when they asked for help to build the facility at Tullamarine. I'm a melbourne supporter and i have to agree with lloyd here 100% You have to have the ruthlessness to stand up for your team and your teammates, You can give one free kick away but it's about sending a message to the opposition and your supporters. Look at us last week at the Saints, Zak Jones has a run in with one of our players, later in the same quarter Steven May has the chance to charge him while in the contest of the ball. He gives away the free kick sure, but everyone knew he was going too. Took the chance to stand up for a teammate and send a message to the supporters that we're not going to cop it. You don't have to be the best team in the world to do what Lloyd is talking about, it's all about willing to take a stand

That next play, Shiel should have absolutely cleaned up Parker. He was within 5 metres of the ball so within shepherding range. Shiel running through him would have been quite legal and would have sent a clear message, "Don't come at me with that crap mate or be prepared for the consequences". Instead he stuck his hand out as if to say, please don't go near the ball, it will make me look bad. Clear to see Barrett has no idea when it comes to football. Essendon right now are an absolute laughing stock. No heart, no passion, no idea!! Carey summed it up when he said during the game that they are guarding grass while their opponents run around collecting possessions at will. No other team in the competition concedes as many coast to coast goals as us. I dread it when we kick points because we all know that the next score will invariably be a goal to the opposition as they almost literally walk the ball down the field without a single Essendon player touching them. Lloyd is right. Effort is the non negotiable. As fans and members, we can deal with our team losing. Look at the applause we gave the team when they lost to North in 2016 with a cobbled together list, because we could see the effort, we just weren't good enough. We look at this team and see the talent and the absolute dearth of anyone giving a f$%k. Members reach into their pockets every year to support the club financially, even when they are struggling to pay their bills, because they love the club. It kills us to see blokes running around earning pay packets we can only dream of, who are clearly only playing for the pay check. If I put in the effort they do in my line of work, I'd be unemployed. Heppell coming out and telling supporters and media to "Jam it" about smiling when his team loses is so far from what he should be doing it's not funny. He clearly hasn't read the room. If he doesn't like the scrutiny, retire. Either that or start earning that lovely fat wage he gets every week.

You have to love the Velvet Sledgehammer; he still loves his club, the integrity of the game and what means to be a teammate. In regards to TJ and Kane, I see both points of view, the best athletes in the world don’t let their last actions defined them, be it good or bad, they are determined to always do better each time, so it’s great to have a positive leader like Dyson. However, without that ‘killer instinct’ and given Essendon’s lack lustre performance over the years, it is understandable why the fans and media alike view such jovial mannerisms with a sour taste. I still believe in this club and it’s players, but they need to believe in themselves.

Not a bombers fan but his absolutely correct, who cares for a free kick paid, you'd rather see some ruthlessness, some heart and some commitment.

Lloyd is 100% right. Damo and Tony have never played footy, no idea. Essendon are soft as butter, and opposition teams know when they play them it's going to be a cake walk. Bunch of weak players

As a bombers fan I 100% agree with Lloyd. I think that’s why the crowd loves stringer when he is on fire because he brings a level of aggression to the bombers that hasn’t been seen in a while.

Wow, the perfect clip which shows the difference between commentators and players and commentators lack of understanding of what team respect is.

Totally agree. Have some pride. I follow Essendon as my second team, but it starts at the top with Heppell. Truck was a big guy, but wasn't an angry player either. Id be f#$ked off if I was in a team getting easily beaten every week. The midfielders are skilled, but no real body in there. That's why stringer is important. It'll take him weeks to get fit again though.

As much as you don’t want to agree with what Cornes and Lloydy have to say, there right. You can’t be content with playing the kind of football and be happy about it, that means your ok with being mediocre. It has to drive you to train harder and play better! This is AFL football.

Whilst the criticism of Essendon is more than warranted, it is astounding that the footy public don't realise that 5 teams have a longer drought.
@Cliffy1616
@Cliffy1616 2 жыл бұрын
A longer premiership drought sure but I’m pretty sure Essendon have the longest drought of not winning any finals series games. The few times we’ve made finals in the last nearly 2 decades we were eliminated round 1. Literally every other team barring Gold Coast have won a final in the last 20 years and obviously Gold Coast aren’t even 20 years old. Even a team like St Kilda who now have the longest premiership drought, have at least made it to a grand final in the last 20 years and have had wins in finals series. Unlike Essendon who haven’t won a final since 2004. Which means for 18 years the bombers have been so average they either don’t make finals or if they do they then likely finished 7th or 8th and get knocked out round 1 of finals. So yeah as an Essendon supporter they’ve been fairly disappointing for a long time. Don’t get me wrong they’ve had their moments over the years where they’ve had some great games and have had seasons where they’ve at least been more or less entertaining to watch and start to give a bit of hope for the future but it never seems to go anywhere.
