Do we really need this guy yapping and yapping over Lincoln/. Someone should tell Matt that Lincoln knew how to speak, a hell of a lot better than he does. Who does he think his audience is ? 2nd graders? I could only watch a minute of this guy. I hope he doesn't screw up his students by getting in the way of Lincoln's speeches, offering commentary. He will screw it up. I notice so many "scholars" do this and web sites. I can't find one Cooper Union speech, where some "scholar" doesn't spend ten minutes yapping first --and often getting it WRONG anyway!

First of all - Pinsker does an excellent job of explaining the background, meaning and content of this speech. Second, all scholars consider and comment on all important historical events. Most Americans would have no idea of what this speech concerned without its historical setting. Most of us are not born with the innate knowledge you seem to allege. I can't imagine how you would teach students of American history. Perhaps with your own innate yapping, devoid of training in the field of History. Take care, be safe.
