Slater is right. The NFL doesn't really care about player safety, like the majority of companies don't care about employee safety. Management is all good as long as no-one gets hurt and they're turning a profit. At the end of the day, that's all the matters...$

It’s all about being able to say “we did something” so they can minimize lawsuits. League probably has half a dozen more player safety rule changes up their sleeve to put off banning turf as long as possible.

Why can't they say this sport is unsafe put aside 10% of the profits from it towards post players health and be done with it.
@TheOtherMJ_76 Жыл бұрын
The NFL will never do that because mothers all over the country would try to take their sons out of football. It may only be temporary until the next “big thing” hits, but it would be damaging to the player pool and a PR nightmare. Goodell would essentially be forfeiting his job if he presided over an announcement like that. Also, 10% is pretty ambitious. I would be astounded if they even offered up 1%.

This is mostly irrelevant to the topic, but Chris mentions the Chiefs winning the SB because of Special Teams. It is wild to think about, because their Special Teams was a joke early in the season. So many mistakes, turnovers, missed FGs, etc etc. Then that very phase was really the deal breaker in the most important game of the season. Quite the impressive turnaround.

Trying to disincentivize teams from returning it. Avg is 20-25 yards, so unless you have a stud, a shit offense, or there’s little time left where you want to go for a home run, most players will be told to fair catch and take it at the 25.

Why not kickoff from halfway, like every other type of "football" ie football, rugby etc? Make the end zone touch back to the 20 like it used to be. That way most likely most teams will take the touchback. You can even let the defending team have players just 10yards back as blocking.

All this does is make the quarterback is the star, in fact nfl is going the way of NBA, one star is the face of the league like LeBron is to NBA, no way any quarterback can surpass Bradys 7 superbowl victories unless nfl officiating helps that quarterback, one penalty can cause a team to loss a game, nfl doesn't want it a team effort, no 1 quarterback is nfl face and star

If someone dies on the field I think for sure the number of kids playing football would go down for a couple of years but after everyone forgets it would be back. If the league cares about players safety they would ban turf and only play on grass, over medical care for players, no more and, Thursday Saturday, and Monday games. If the NFL pushes back then the players at the CBA should argue for 55% of the revenue coming in

Only hypocrites would avoid replacing the turf. When are the players going to go after this instead of money? Since this is a tackling sport, something inherently violent, you can see where this Fawlty Towers logic is taking us. And why are we ignoring the concussion stats from rugby, where most guys don't even wear any head protection? Because of the money involved with shittier and shittier helmets. Helmets and turf, you can only imagine the kickback schemes.

NFL doesn't CARE ABOUT safety. The Organization CARES ABOUT MONEY!!!! Bottom line....Don't give me this Bull crap about "Safety" Roger......Taking a major play out of the game of Pro Football that has been around for almost a hundred years and 68 years I have been on this Earth, takes away the quality of Pro Football.....and if or when there is a concussion everybody sees it on the TV and field because when the player is down everyone sees it.........so the quality of the Pro Football has gone down.....and less viewers will view because of it!!!
