The first 16 seconds are a cinematic Masterpiece. The words "Don't think. Just do." From the son of the friend he felt he (Maverick) let die. The heavy breathing before the grunt of pulling the stick hard to one side. The almost sluggish but powerful turn of the F-14, followed by the sound of the 20mm. Sheering the tails off the enemy. Fantastic movie.

Then they get to the valley scenes and turned the speed down on the cgi plane models to comically slow pace so the audience could see them in more detail. Without those couple shots of each aircraft looking like it's cruising along at at brisk 60-70 mph along with the wildly inaccurate physics of those scenes, this moment would have been great. It's like these studios don't know where they should stop and always take it just a step too far with the cgi implementation. They did an amazing job through 95% of the movie with the effects.

​@@MatthewFritsche Yeah, it's a shame that yours didn't get more attention. Considering you went out of the way to make sure the dialog was still audible. With most edits of this nature, people just slap the music over the video and don't focus enough on making sure that the audio is properly leveled. So the dialog usually ends up sounding muffled as a result. But here, it's not only leveled properly but synced up well. I also like the bit at the end with the song sounding like it's coming from the cockpit. That was a nice touch.
