Matthew, I see that when you typed in the title, you specified a date and then found the location from information you already had at hand. ie. 1869-1954 and then the result came up with JOHANNESBURG. This is all very well when you already know the dates and place. I'm looking for the marriage of my G.Grandparents and all I have is their year of birth and district (farmers) they lived in (Eastern Cape). So with very little knowledge, I can only assume that they must have got married from 1900 (when she was 20) to 1908 (when my gran was born). How then do I find a marriage certificate?

Hi there! I've watched all of your videos, and they are very helpful. I could really use your help! I found an ancestor's deceased estate in the NAB part of the NAIR, but I am having a hard time figuring out where to look on family search the NAIR search says Dept: NAB, Reference: 3495/1974. I've been trying to look on familysearch, here South Africa, KwaZulu Natal, Estate files, 1951-1988, but I don't see numbers that correspond with the 3495. Should that be stamped on the first page of the file?

Hi Rebecca, thanks for your comment! Unfortunately, Natal (NAB) estate files beyond 1950 are not online. The catalog you mentioned contains estates for non-Europeans only. Professional genealogist Heather MacAlister (South Africa based) can retrieve the file you are after for around 20USD. I use her services all the time; her email address is: heather@ancestors.co.za Hope this helps!
