it is not bios related at all most hp laptops come with the bios set up to run the cpu as fast as it can and give it all the power it wants. all of the slowing down happens inside windows. so the hp command center and my hp app or whatever they have can act really weird. you can just reinstall windows or run the two removal scripts that are located inside the intel extreme tuning utility install folder. then that performance or cool things wont be available anymore but all of the power limits will be removed and fans will run only run up to the max of the default profile. so the cpu and gpu will use as much power it wants but it wont cut from. the cpu gpu power balance wont be an issue it will still do the balancing correctly. this means if you run some cpu only stuff the cpu can run insanely hast and you will get the fastest result ever from that model of cpu (inside the cooling limitations of course) (sorry for commenting this more than once i just wanted you to see it)

I'm typing from this very device. My specific 2-and-1 being the 16 inch, 32 gigs ram, 1TB storage, and RTX 4050. Very happy with my purchase. The keyboard is FANTASTIC The Battery life is solid - I'm averaging around 10 hours on full charge. Downside - Finger prints love this screen and no micro SD slot is disappointing as the reviewer here rightly points out. But as a finance professional I admire the great big screen, ability to read newspapers, articles, and take notes in Tablet mode while also having a battery life that last's my full day of work. It was between this and the Dell XPS for me. But the 2-and-1 functionality made the decision for me.

Up to which GPU can you upgrade? Where I am looking to buy it, it either comes with a RTX 4050 laptop or Intel Arc Integrated GPU. From online GPU comparisons it looks like the Intel Arc GPU is better? Do you have any experience with heavy GPU workloads such as gaming on this laptop?

@@FarmingLifeatLaForge I got the RTX 4050. I chose it since there was currently a decent sale and I do like to play video games on my laptop. From my experience, the integrated graphics are more than enough for normal work loads such as Microsoft Office applications, video streaming etc. However, if you do have tasks that need heavier GPU loads like gaming or video processing it is very handy to have 32GB of RAM and a good laptop GPU. Battery life is decent (Personally I only use the RTX 4050 when actively charging, otherwise you drain your battery in like 30 minutes). Can use it for a good 5 hours with medium tasks (aka working with multiple applications and browsers open) and up to 10h if just watching an offline movie or similar tasks. If battery life is a big concern to you, I'd choose one of the newer laptops with Snapdragon chips or a MacBook (unless some of Apple's restrictive nature is a problem for you. It certainly was for me when looking for a new laptop).

Are you sure about the battery? You say it can only last 5 hours, but HP store say it can last 13 hours, and a couple of professional review i've found stated that in their test, it lasted around 11/12 hours, which is good enough to use it for a whole day. Are you sure about the graphic card? You say it is in the average, but from what I've read from those same professional review, they say the graphic card is really bad, that it is way under what pc with a RTX 4050 usually can do. From your experience, is the pen given with the pc is similar to an apple pen? Or is it more similar to a 3DS pen? And lastly, I can't figure out in my mind how much 40db is, but I've read everywhere that this pc made a lot of noise all the time, is it what it means? I know I ask a lot of things, it would be cery kind to anwser what can be anwsered. I've been looking for a pc for quite some times, due to my major, I need both powerful graphic card and powerful CPU, plus, I need to be able to draw, so need a 2 in 1 pc or to pay for both a pc and an iPad. I have a budget of 2000€ at max, so I'm hesitating between either this pc for 1700, a victus at 1000 + an ipad, or an Omen at 1700 and I learn to use the mouse to draw. I'm a bit afraid that those 1000€ pc will deteriorate and die in a couple of years only, I can't afford to spend 1000€ every 2 years (BTW, i say "professional review" as in "review made by people specialized in this", not as in "you're not a professional")

If you're down to solving the performance mystery, with Throttlestop you can see what the PL1 and PL2 are in the TPL menu by default and crank them to theoretical max, but HP always locks down the PL1's, so you'll probably bypass the soft limit on PL1 but not the hard one. On my Spectre 16 2021 it's PL1'd hard at 40w, but I suspect they should've raised that cap much much higher since the Spectre 14.0 can do 36w by now

I have the 2019 version of this laptop and I still love it, even though I just bought a new Lenovo Legion 7i with higher specs. Many times when I'm going to sit at a coffee shop for awhile, I prefer to bring my HP Spectre rather than the Lenovo because the Spectre will run circles around the Lenovo when it comes to battery life. Like three times or more longer. I guess that's the difference between having a i7 CPU and NVidia 1050 GPU compared to a i9 and 4070. On top of that, the HP is noticeably lighter. The main negative for my version of the Spectre is that when playing games, the poor little 1050 GPU is working its arse off and you can feel it in the amount of heat it generates. Like hot enough where you don't want it sitting on your lap. Unless you like 3rd degree burns. A secondary effect from this is shorter battery life before needing to plug in. I get about 2.5 hours of game time before needing to plug in. The Lenovo gets only 2.5 hours just surfing the web or watching YT videos. When playing games, it gets about 1.5 hours.

Also: - can you stream a 4k youtube video full screen with it staying silent by silent I mean the fans are off - does the dedicated gpu get turned off if you are not gaming, any optimus support? - does it have g-sync? Actually, notebookcheck reviews one without the nvidia gpu so that might explain the difference in battery life which leads me to believe it does not have optimus and it's just running constantly, so buy one without nvidia if you care about battery.

This model and the 14 don't have the same ports. The 14 doesn't have an HDMI port.

To me the microphones still sound much worse compared the ones found in MacBooks. Especially with Voice Isolation turned on it’s not even close. The microphones in the Spectre have this typical hollow laptop microphone sound that makes online conferences even more exhausting. It’s not entirely terrible. But with Voice Isolation activated on my MacBook Air I have to use headphones to hear the difference between the build in mics and my Elgato Wave usb microphone and that is very good. It‘s a pity that the Windows side of the laptop world still hasn’t caught up by now… Are there any Windows laptops that are actually competitive in this regard?

Is the battery user replaceable?
@no1g8tor0810 ай бұрын
Yes. You just need to open it up and replace it. Simple.
@benjijmason10 ай бұрын
@no1g8tor08 what I mean is. Is it a sealed unit or can the battery come out with a clip or something

Don’t even know of a newer Laptop you can replace a battery. No external Ones anymore. At least high end ones

Ports aren't identical. The 14" doesn't include chassis HDMI port, but the dongles give that.
@joukenienhuis68883 ай бұрын
But that is not included standard. In the Dutch version it surely is not, samd with the pen

Battery life is letdown.. not good for a brand new CPU. Another user mentioned same for the new galaxy book 4. Minimum 10 hours is a must to leave the charger home. and why hp can't make it smaller, like Samsung chargers 1 cable only. Thanks for the review

I purchased this but now returning it. The nvidia graphics 4050 is ONLY used when gaming or other graphic intensive task. The default and normal use is the Intel ARC graphics. So I have no way of changing this to run ONLY on nvidia. I was surprised by this, you basically have two GPUs. Why?

Hey is that a laptop on your lap or are you just happy to see eh someone? I am not a comic. As i mentioned on your Instagram post, where is the gold? Show me the gold! FFS! The prices here are insane, 2200+ euros for 16GB of RAM, 512GB of SSD and the igpu. You can get a laptop, perhaps not a 2 in 1, for half the price with a dedicated GPU which will smoke this. I like HP, but r u kidding? I am not getting into the performance issue. Great video man.

The TDP of 4050 only 45w? That's so weird
@bigeric12311 ай бұрын
it is designed for content creation, not for gaming. but for 4050, even you push 60+W, you only can get 10% extra performance or less

I would buy a tablet and laptop combo rather than this 360 hybrid at this price. I still need to get these 2-in-1s, especially 16 inches, that are not practical to use as handheld tablets. The battery life and performance are subpar but hopefully will improve with an update, but even then, it just runs off the mill. An easy pass.
