I can’t believe all the commercials they would have during a main event

After hearing all the interviews from MC and RC the past few years it's obvious MC lost because he didn't work hard like he should, he was 30 and RC was 20 so he didn't wanna ride that hard AND he was freakin injured all his career ! Also people should listen to Roger DeCoster's interview from the Whiskey Throttle where he finally tells why MC lost in 1997.. It was because of his mechanic who fucked up the bike most of the season! Meaning MC should have won (at least) 8 fuckin strainght SX titles! So many things happened during that era that we only start to know now. MC is the most iconic rider in dirt bike history, he was the man to beat during 10 straight seasons but he was also not working hard like most greats in any sports do, i don't think people understand how easy it was for MC to ride at that level. No disrespect to RC but MC only lost in 2001 and 2002 because of himself (and his injured ACL). The golden era was the best ever.

Craziest thing (for me) was finding out just a couple years ago that MC and RC were really good friends at the time.

McGrath was the ideal champion... he was always humble. Ricky's team built him a multi year championship bike and they did what no other team ever did... They began scouting other racers especially McGrath. Jeremys' career was based on as fast as he can through 12 -15 laps, rip off a big lead then glide home. He later admitted; Outdoor wasn't his gig and the 30 min race, length and difficulty of track took all his strength and the big admission; even in SX he just didn't have the stamina for 20 full tilt laps that Ricky brought to the table... Rick did change Mx & Sx racing... basically a Tiger Woods mentality... Tigers tournament thought process... Go as low as you can in the first two day... End of Friday; Tiger is 8-10 strokes ahead. Ricky's thought process... "you better have the stamina to keep up with me"

You can tell McGrath was shook...

It was cool to see McGrath challenged but I didn't want to see him lose the championship like he did. He was still my favorite rider.

It’s hard to root for one over the other because they are both so amazing! I love them both! It is really hard to root for anyone over McGrath when he’s on the track. I would’ve liked to seen him race the season Carmichael was out when Reed won-don’t know as Reed would’ve won with McGrath racing? Just a thought.

@@charliemike13 mcgrath finished one or two times on the podium in 2002, so i dont think he could have challenged reed in 04. All the people forgot that mcgrath was 30yo when he lost his title to carmichael, carmichael was 19 or 20. Most guys wouldnt even race at 30. In his Prime he was unbeatable but time catches everyone. I think mcgrath will allways be the best sx rider ever, nobody can even come close to his wins and championships.
@charliemike133 жыл бұрын
@@backwithabang5842 yeah, you’re right. He was dominant for so long we do forget about his age. Definitely the best sx rider of all time.

Hard and slick was just about every track in SoCal. Perris usually had the best dirt, but thats probably changed since I moved away 19 years ago. Vuillemin looks around WAY too much. He needs to race ahead of him, not behind. I know RC always wanted to win, but it almost looks like he gave this one to MC after they came together. RC was clearly faster in the last few laps but I guess he didn't want to risk touching Jeremy again
