Thank you for taking the time to upload this video, it really helped me making the decision to purchase the baffles. They are awesome and really give my Vstar 1300 a throaty sound it's an upgrade to de cobra baffles.

Awesome! Glad you like them!

Hi Matt I removed my Cobra slashdowns baffles today and took my dimensions as I will be ordering the Thunder Monster baffles tomorrow. I believe the inside measured at 21/8" and outside diameter of the exhaust is 2 1/4". Can't wait to install these bad boys
@MattPatterson14118 жыл бұрын
+joe vstar As far as I can remember that sounds about right on the measurements. Wish I still had my bike but having kids put a hold on my bike riding... for now...
@joestreetglider8 жыл бұрын
+Matt Patterson just placed my order. I've been riding around town without the baffles in my exhaust the last few days and it's loud and feel that you lose some hp in my opinion maybe I'm wrong. I don't think running straight pipes without baffles is good on the engine.
@MattPatterson14118 жыл бұрын
+joe vstar You do loose some hp without baffles. Running straight pipes isn't good on the bike. At least you were able to get your original ones out. I bought my bike used so no tell where it had been. My cobra baffles were rusted in there and ended up having to take the exhaust system off and cut the pipes in two with a chop saw so I could put in a smaller diameter piece of pipe in the other end and hammer them out. I then took the two pieces of pipe up to a machine shop and had them tig weld them back together. Once welded, I put back on the bike with new gaskets and reinstalled the chrome covers. It was a pain in the ass. WIsh I had done a video of it.

Hey Matt, Do ya remember which Fi2000 ya went with? the Powrpro or Tripot or Digital? I went with the Dynojet and having tons of backfire issues. Thanks

I can’t remember but I may still have the box.

Sorry was going back through comments and saw this. I looked and no box but I’m pretty sure it was the digital model.

Getting my first bike, looking for a 1300 like this. Did you like it? Any issues? Any advice helps thanks!
@bmanamericae30129 жыл бұрын
Justin Grigg 1st bike? I wouldn't ride this first. I own this. It's a great bike. I love it, but glad it wasn't my first. I rode much lighter more nimble when I started. You need to get your head about you on two wheels.
@dbest1aVlogs9 жыл бұрын
BMan Americae amen to that .. fully agree.

Justin Grigg Hi Justin, Sorry for just now responding to this. By now you've probably already purchased something but I would not go with a bike this big as my first one. I started out by purchasing a 1979 Kawasaki KZ650. It was fairly cheap (only cost me $900) and was easier to learn to ride on plus I didn't worry about dumping the bike as much as I would have if I were on the 1300. I'd also recommend that you go to a Harley dealership and ask if they offer Riders Edge classes. I took the beginners course and it helped me tremendously. In three days I went from having not rode a bike at all to passing the riders test. The 1300 is a great bike but I would not recommend it for a first bike.

Justin Grigg Hey, if your still looking around, I just want to let you know that I bought a 2007 V Star 1300 in March as my first bike ever! I rode a dirt bike for the first time a couple weeks before, took the riders edge course at a Harley dealership and been riding every single day to and from school, about 65 miles a day 5 days a week. I'm 22 yrs old, 6ft and only 165lbs. It took about a week to get used to the weight, but after that first week, I can't see myself riding anything smaller than a 1300. The speed is great on the freeway too, my bike has over 100k miles on it, but I got it for $2,500 and have put well over 6k miles on it. NO problems at all. I just changed the oil and filter and do most of the maintenance myself, just download the manual and get yourself a good tool set, its a pretty basic bike made to be worked on, I love it!

Sounds really nice I like it . Did you have to add any fuel management, especially since she already is tuned from the factory a bit on the lean side. I did the O2 bypass.. omg the difference. just curious .. very nice exhaust ..
@MattPatterson14119 жыл бұрын
dbest1a Some say you don't, others say you do. I didn't want to take any chances so I installed the Cobra Fi2000 fuel processor. I also did the O2 mod as well. Makes me wish I still had that bike! It was a sweet ride! Thanks for the comments.

Nice sound just like mine...
@rtrappjr4 жыл бұрын
hey Matt ! i also added the cobra air injector to, so prob im having is getting the fuel managment right, any idea of where you had it set? i know the air injectors is gonna throw it off to but tryin to get it close
@MattPatterson14114 жыл бұрын
I had the Fi2000 fuel management system on mine so it took care of all that for me. All I had was that and the Thunder Monster baffles and it sounded amazing
@joestreetglider8 жыл бұрын
Hey Matt I've installed these baffles with thunder city recommendation and I was wondering if you tried flipping the baffles the opposite direction for a different sound??
@MattPatterson14116 жыл бұрын
Sorry for just now responding but to answer your question I haven’t tried flipping them.
@rtrappjr4 жыл бұрын
well got them on today and installed the baffles sob! you will def feel that shit and theyll def hear ya coming!
@MattPatterson14114 жыл бұрын
It’s damn near like having straight pipes! 😂
@rtrappjr4 жыл бұрын
i did have alot of trouble at first and decided to throw the cobra baffles back in , i didnt really have any better results and it did not sound much louder than the stock so was not impressed with that , the monster baffles are the shit just gotta get the fuel managment right...
@rtrappjr4 жыл бұрын
hey just got this bike , stock exhaust gotta go this seem to be the shit here, its fuel injected so i know u wouldnt rejet this was theer any issue changing these over?
@MattPatterson14114 жыл бұрын
It’s easy but you need to add a aftermarket ECM. I used the Cobra Fi2000.
@rtrappjr4 жыл бұрын
@@MattPatterson1411 ordered pipes and ecm today plus the baffles , big city thunder was helpful on fig out the size since i dont have the exhaust here , looks like 2 1/8 should work
@joestreetglider9 жыл бұрын
Matt I have the cobra exhaust on my bike already just need the monster baffles. Which model did u get?
@MattPatterson14119 жыл бұрын
joe vstar The original.. www.bigcitythunder.com/component/content/article/10-product/14-thunder-monster-baffles.html Be sure and measure the ID of your exhaust. I don't have the bike anymore and I can't remember which size I bought. I want to say it was either the 2" or the 2 1/8" but I can't remember. You can also take your existing baffle out and measure the OD. Good Luck!
@2woofs7844 жыл бұрын
How did ya keep the monster baffles in there?
@MattPatterson14114 жыл бұрын
There is a little screw that goes in from the outside then the chrome cover goes over that.
@hemaelghane9945 Жыл бұрын
Nice bike. I bought the same, but I want tubes like this. Where can I find them, my brother?
@MattPatterson1411 Жыл бұрын
bigcitythunder.com for the baffles and you can get the Cobra pipes from any motorcycle parts shop.
@jeffoswald203 Жыл бұрын
Damn I like it I have the stock cobra long shots on my 08 and yours is a lot louder ! Question do you hassled by the cops ?
@MattPatterson1411 Жыл бұрын
Cops never gave me any problems.
@joestreetglider9 жыл бұрын
Sounds good Matt. I own the same bike and have Cobra speedsters Slashdowns but want more an aggressive sound I like these baffles very much.
@MattPatterson14119 жыл бұрын
joe vstar I think you'll like them if you get them. If you had access to a machine shop they could be made pretty easily. It's about a 4" section of pipe with a big washer suspended in the middle. I was surprised at how simple they were.
@joestreetglider9 жыл бұрын
Matt Patterson Do you remember the model # or what size is the pipes? I have the Cobra speedster slashdowns exhaust and would like to order the same ones you had on your V star 1300
@joestreetglider9 жыл бұрын
Matt Patterson thank you sir!
@MattPatterson14119 жыл бұрын
No problem. Are you going to get the Thunder Monster baffles as well or just what comes with the Cobras? I wish I had made a video of the speedster longs with the cobra baffles for comparison. Take Care.
@MrSkorpio6912 жыл бұрын
Did you have to add the computer management syst. Since it changed the airflow? Sounds awesome, planning on getting those too.
@biorn625 жыл бұрын
Any time you change the way air goes in or out of your engine you will want to make sure the bike knows how much fuel to put in. Mapping the ECM is essential to get the most out of the upgrades and to mitigate any potential problems caused by modifying the bike.
@MattPatterson141113 жыл бұрын
@voonkhiang You can get them from bigcitythunder
@TheMKEWERBY6 жыл бұрын
Sweet bike, Matt! Can you get Vance and Hines long shots for this? That’s MY preference.

I’m pretty sure V&H makes a set for this bike.
@ciranimal10 жыл бұрын
Hey Matt, what size baffles did you order?
@MattPatterson141110 жыл бұрын
No sure. I sold the bike so I can't measure them. I think they were 2 1/4 but not sure.

I'm new to the motorcycle world, I have a 2012 Vstar 1300. Thinking of changing out stock pipes. Anyone have a take on the Cobra slip ons? Can you add baffle to slip on?
@MattPatterson14117 жыл бұрын
+luckyfrank562 sorry but I don't have any idea about about the slipons. I'm sure you can run baffles with them as you're really no supposed to run the bike without them especially without a ECM to compensate for the lack of back pressure.
@luckyfrank5627 жыл бұрын
Matt Patterson Thanks for replying. Your bike sounds awesome!!
@macwiller21055 жыл бұрын
I went with the 3 inch Road Burners. Pretty much the same but mine are um.... Straight pipes. LoL. Kinda loud

Running straight pipe is stupid. Huge loss in torque and midrange power. These sound awesome dude. Gonna order a set soon! Ride safe!
@MattPatterson141110 жыл бұрын
You wouldn't believe the amount of messages I got from people saying I should just run straight pipes! I should have taken a picture of the baffles before I put them in. Not much more than a 2" pipe with a big washer suspended in the middle.
@ciranimal10 жыл бұрын
Oh I believe it. People are morons lol
