how about when Mek and Min came to dig up dragon bones a few days ago, they caused a rock slide in the back of the cave. This now prevents the gas from escaping. Because the dragon bones were somehow connected to the elemental realm of fire, the crystal/egg was there anyway, the Myconids just weren't bothered by it.

Great Video, i plan to let the fume Drakes repeat "Sharruth vhir" witch translates to "Sharruth below" in draconic to tease up a "Sharruths Tomb" miniadventure after the group (hopefully) defeats sparkrender

That's a good idea! I tend to mostly ignore the Sharruth influence on DOSI because it's not directly relevant to the players' goals

I've watched this video a dozen times. This last time was the first time I noticed the mickey mouse christmas bag for the fishy smelly off cuts to give to the miconids. It literally made me LOL imagining the players handing that very bag and telling the aggressive angry fungus people "Happy Christmas! Enjoy our unwanted fish guts! "

Have a question on combat (especialy on monster) In 19:36 for example. Heated body is quoted, "within 5 ft of it takes 3 (1d6) dmg" Does the attack mean the player recieves 3 dmg + whatever 1d6 rolls or what you have said; player recieves 1d6 dmg?

That kind of 3(1d6) notation means: the player takes 1d6 damage, or if the Dungeon Master Doesn't want to roll, they can take the average of that dice roll, which is 3.

An observation from myself would be to avoid skill challenges like the plague. Theyre dated in my opinion and really interfere with the flow of the game. Keep most changes just have the interaction as a general interaction

Thanks, this is super helpful! So, how DO the tides affect the octopus encounter? I'm thinking...the octopus can't drag them down as far at low tide? Anything else? I'm guessing I'll want to do something that rewards the players for choosing one tide over the other...

My thinking was the tides would determine whether the octopus is encountered at all.

I ran this for two groups who both did well against the buffed octopus. One was a party of three.

I personally teally like the octopus having 4 or 5 smaller slam attacks and 1 grapple slam. It could use any attack as a bonus attack or reaction to make it feel alive.

We are doing Stormwreck Isle Campaign right now and the 3 other players in my team are a Bard, Wizard and Cleric. I'm a tanky half elf, princess, kleptomaniac Rogue. We managed to take down the octopus really fast. I also am really good at damage dealing and magic missiles are so good for wizards. Poor Octopus never stood a chance. We were all level 2 by the way.

@@writer2036 Well it might have something to do with my octopus landing 3 consecutive nat 20 on them, I could barely belive it myself, there was also high tide so they had diff terrain and couldn't outrun it aaaand team's monk was so drunk that she threw her hammer into the water not even aiming at the octopus, it was a lot of fun tho after 3 out of 4 of them got downed they didn't even rest and the purple mushroom ambush fight was a hell of a ride. To their credit they reached the end of the cave and died from the fire serpent's hand which made a whole new questline with them being resurrected by Sharruth (there is a mention in the book that the crevice that was in the last cave led down to under the caves and it was up to DM to make anything of Sharruth if he's dead, alive or anything in between) and having to retrieve a certain item from Avernus to pay off their debt to him. Again lots of fun
