@@imCurveee Or record deal demands. Often people dismiss the authors of these songs and most would be shocked about how they came about. BB told storys about many but some he didnt speak about because they were accidental luck that worked for his audience. It was recorded in 1960 and in this country I bet maybe 2 white people even purchased this music. The rest were trying to spray us with water hoses and keep us from going to school and shit. Being at those early shows you heard things like this as they were tales mixed with traditional rhyme. Unless you have been around older black people, you would never ever know what half of these tunes really mean.

If you close your eyes and listen you can almost smell the stale Cigarette smoke whisky and beer. All cramped into a small place just to hear this master play even before he was signed. The guy calling out "What" to make Stevie jam more and he does then he starts to sing the guy calls out "Stevie, Stevie", is too much for words! BB King loved Stevie, so I bet when he first hears Stevie play his song I bet he smiled from ear to ear. The delicate feel to the crushing licks and bends are awesome. Rest in peace to both masters of the Guitar and the blues. RIP

I very much share your sentiment, FretMaster68. I, too, play blues guitar, and one of my dreams is to rip a scorching blues solo like this, behind a slow 12/8 beat, in a packed, smoky bar, with a neon beer sign flashing somewhere near the stage. Very similar to a Blue Jean Blues ZZ Top feel. It doesn't get any more real than this...

Stevie Ray Vaughan was a Texas guitar slinger who played and sang the blues so deep down and gritty that it reached inside you and effortlessly lifted your emotions straight to the surface. Thirty-two years since he went on to be with the Lord, I still get the same aching in my heart when I listen to him play, and I never met him. I was born in San Antonio 1953. Stevie, Dallas 1954. The good die young. Thank you, Lord, for blessing us with the talent and life of a great but humble and kind man from Texas. A man who battled his demons and won. I just found his AA testimony yesterday. Stevie Ray Vaughan was a man's man. He made his family and all of Texas proud. May you rest in peace, Stephen Ray Vaughan. P.S. Somebody should make a movie about his life! So many lessons to be learned.

Wrong. He died and is judged for his sins. Narrow is the path. There is judgment. You best believe that. Ecclesiastes 12:14 For God shall bring every work into Judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. / Acts 17:31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will Judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead. / Romans 14:10-12 (10) But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the Judgment seat of Christ. / (11) For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. / (12) So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God./ Matthew 12:36-37 (36) But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of Judgment. / (37) For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. /

Being from Texas, and also having an older brother that played guitar and also gave ME my first electric, I had/have a special affinity for Stevie. I got to see him play at a small(er) venue in South Dallas near where he grew up (that is sadly now where a Home Depot is), I was a HUGE Jimi fan. I was BLOWN away when he did Voodoo Chile (Slight Return), Little Wing, and Third Stone. It wasn't until I began collecting his music from the EARLIER club days that I heard this. The version I knew from B.B. was the studio version. Then I heard Live At The Regal and then it clicked where Stevie got his influence. Go have a listen to B.B. King's intro at the Regal and see. Stevie had the ability to sound like B.B. King, Albert King, Albert Collins, Freddie King (who was born just 30 miles from where I grew up and in the same town I used to jam in), but then he was himself and wasn't shy about telling who influenced him! He passed away, the day before my wife's 23rd birthday, and while I was in the military. Sadly, I could not make his service, but I have paid my respects as soon as I could.
