Overall the G8x wins for me with the dual speakers and dual case, but the G8 holds its own with its more compact size, always on display and the face unlock is faster than my Galaxy S20 FE. I'll NEVER understand why the G8x,Velvet or V60 doesn't have face unlock. Great comparison.

Had bought g8x in 2020 for around $300. For the price nothing on the market comes close. . No other $300 phone had ip68, wireless charging till date. Dual screen is a blessing for reading books, magazines. It was on Android 10 when I bought it. Got Android 12 update couple of weeks back. 100 % satisfied so far. Fingerprint and charging is a bit slow, but I've gotten used to it now.

Gaming on g8x will probably last longer because of the lower resolution, despite the screen being bigger it makes up for that with the slightly bigger battery

You can turn down the resolution on the g8 to 1080p or lower. Globally so it does it for all apps and games.

But I don't care about updates because my two friends are using poco X2 and x3 and they are getting updates every month but miui 12 had already ruined experience of all the users. Even my realme 6 has many issues after software update. Very very disgusting update. Each update comes with a new bug. But my LG hadn't have any issues. It's ui in 60hz looking more smooth than poco X2 120 hz

G8 has a better resonance chamber on top of hollow surfaces. G8 has better image quality for the rear cameras with more detail and better depth of field. Though I do prefer the hue of the g8x over the g8. The front camera, the g8x wins there. The g8 has a better screen and has more secure biometrics. Capacitive fps is better than optical which can be fooled with using ashes. If put ash over the screen, have them unlock it with ash finger print still present on the screen. Any finger print can be placed over it and unlock the phone. Can't do that with the tof or capacitive. Imo, if you are considering the g8x, you may as well go for the v69 which is better all around. Not a fan of the g8x build quality since I've seen people break the phone by bending it.

-Dual screen hands down will always win. -Screen quality really isn’t that noticeable. -Cameras are similar (dual screen camera feature is great) -Finger print on screen is cool on 8x, but I really loved the features that the g8 brought (physical fingerprint scanner, face recognition, hand recognition) -the big size of the G8X makes sense with the dual screen as it’s meant for a 2 nice large displays. My g8, was more convenient when on the run and active. My G8X was not great when out all the time with dual screen. Very heavy and quite scary if dropped. -speed, awesome dual display, & better battery have the G8X the edge for me (although I love both)

G8x is an absolute champion. When I'm really absolutely pushing it to the max with 4k videos and GCam photos all day I get 5 hours SOT. On a regular day with average use I get 8 hours SOT. The G8 should be a little worse for wear with a smaller battery and 1440p display but not by much.

Here in Brazil the G8X is a steal right now, cheaper than the S10+ and you get twice as much screen real-estate but with 2GB RAM less, very acceptable, RIP LG.

Hey man, i had my lg g8 for the past 5 months and has been great, but i can't receive literally any updates, its an unlocked at&t phone, i rly need help cz the last security pstch it has it's from november , the one that cames with it , and i haven't been able to download any firmware or security updates since then and i saw in the at&t website that they recently launch a security update in febreaury. The thing is i live in Brazil and i can't get an AT&T chip here cz they just don't operate here, is there any solution to this?

You shouldn't buy any AT&T smarphone when you're out of the US. They don't provide smartphone updates worldwide + their bloatwares are the heaviest and hardest to unlock out of all the US carriers. Sorry to hear that..

You have to download the latest KDA file for your phone and install it with LGUP The process is surprisingly easy.

Maybe you have a rooted/bootloader unlocked phone? If you bought it used, this could possibly be the case.- Turns out you can "refurbish" or "repair" by flashing firmware with the same carrier, but I don't know the specifics.
