Gamazda is a wonderful pianist and like most that have commented, I subscribe and watch her videos. They have wonderful production, and every video is different and an experience. But as you say, 10:35, her videos are "performances" just like music videos. You don't have any artists being recorded singing in a forest but are performing/miming to a pre-recorded track. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that - Gamazda would have recorded it before either on a piano or on midi track. The most obvious one is "Evanescence - Bring Me To Life (Piano cover by Gamazda)" - check it out, if you cannot see the fingering being off time with the sounds like at 1:20 or the end of the video, then the lack of a sustain (or any!) pedals makes it really obvious for everyone. It's like a magician can spot the tricks of other magicians, and any pianist would spot where something is "off". But like I said, that's not a criticism - her videos are music videos, but instead of someone singing, it's the piano. Her arrangements and performances are amazing.

Her take on "Dream On" was one of the inspirations to start learning Piano. Glad you showcased her technical skills. There are probably 100's of thousands of good Pianists out there. We only talk about a few of them. So whether or not she could place in a Chopin competition, it doesn't really matter if her goal is to be a performer. I get excited to hear her when she releases new pieces and find the KZbin algorithm keeps reminding me of the old ones. Which I almost always rewatch.

I think she was planning a US tour (or at least 1 concert), it was scheduled a bit after Russia invaded Ukraine after which she cancelled the show (probably problems with a visa since Russians weren't exactly welcome around the world), gave one final show in Moscow and after that show she left the country the same night (for good) and has been living in Spain for a while now. Once she gets permanent resident status in Spain it should be easier for her to travel the world I recon. In the mean time she can come to Belgium to give a concert :-D (wishful thinking though she has performed in Austria not so long ago).

If you could point out the a song and which part she isn’t playing I will take a look. Until then I can’t take it too seriously. As far as your playing goes you seem to have enough experience to notice if someone is not playing so point out the parts or songs in question I am not suggesting that this is what is happening with you…but when I was younger and I saw a very beautiful and talented piano player I would think they were no good. Then I grew up and realized maybe something else was going with me. Since then I try to admire talent and ignore any jealousy I may have. Now most of my favorite performances are by women…there are no limitations preventing women from being just as good….proven by Yuja Wang, Hiromi and vkgoeswild….all world class entertainers. Many artists use multi track which is fine if it’s not a secret. Peter Bence has the most technical ability outside of classical I have seen maybe ever and he multitracks it doesn’t take away from is obviously extremely high skill. Some people multi in a few tracks after it is established they can play without it. Have a nice day I will subscribe I like what you are doing musically….it is interesting.

She's definately gifted and highly skilled. And although I like many of her covers, I prefer vkgoeswild's covers. Gamazda usually has better videos and focusses more on the show-element of playing these pieces. Vika aka vkgoeswild focusses more on the music and creates transcriptions of rock/metal songs with an exceptional accuracy. She usually weaves multiple melodies together with the right hand ( or 2 hands combining into a third melody ). Check her rendition of Lulaby by The Cure, or Don't stop believing by Journey.

But even if the audio is not always correct on the video it doesn't change much, she can play a piano damn well... But that shouldn't be a surprise since Russia "made" some extraordinary classical musicians. It's one of Russia's export products :)

I agree that it would be great to hear her do many "serious" music (classial, modern, does not matter, or jazz), as she is a clearly a very good pianist and above all she has a powerfull and interresting style, reminding me a bit of Cyprien Katsaris. And there is way better and more interessting music out there that pop and rock music, which tends to be a bit bland and repetitive at times. But of course you reach way more people with "popular" music, so it seems that is what she will stick to, and that is fair enough.

She would be a monster playing jazz. There's been others who were classically trained that switched to jazz and ruled (Oscar Peterson). Barbara Dennerlein does it on the Hammond B3 and was one of the first who connected her Hammond with Midi so the bass pedals sound better. For Gamazda, it's great she's using loops to add more sound parts. I think she'll need to start her own band, and if she wants to really be the star, she'll have to be the front person and sing. If she wants more of a challenge, she could explore bass pedals. People like this are from another planet. They're connected to the music mainframe or it's like Neo in the Matrix when he learns Kung Fu and he's a master at it.

Clearly Gamazda is a great pianist, there is no way to say otherwise, a musician's reason for existence is to provoke sensations and generate emotional portals in people, she does it, beyond the techniques and skills, she has the gift, she knows it.

Pretty girl. The whole conversation points to the reality that musicality is in the ear of the beholder. She is technically competent and makes clever use of artificial sound layering and good camera production. She is very conventional making it all fairly predictable. All that being said as far as youtube musicians go I myself will opt to spend my tube time listening to the likes of Tory Slusher though she's not a pianist... but in the end to quote Hendrx "what is music m'love?"

She's obviously good, but to my ears as a drummer, I think she sometimes has timing issues. I think this is fairly common with classical musicians who play modern music, and I'd be willing to bet she has never been in a band before with a good drummer. Her playing would really take off if she joined a band. That aside, I still enjoy what she does. Her cover of Metallica's "One" is still my favorite!

@@5pp000 There's no proof about that, but I don't think it's intentional. It would be more pointed and deliberate (and not happen all the time) if it was. 2 Esdras 7:75 I answered and said, "If I have found favor in thy sight, O Lord, show this also to thy servant: whether after death, as soon as every one of us yields up his soul, we shall be kept in rest until those times come when thou wilt renew the creation, or whether we shall be tormented at once?" 76 He answered me and said, "I will show you that also, but do not be associated with those who have shown scorn, nor number yourself among those who are tormented. 77 For you have a treasure of works laid up with the Most High; but it will not be shown to you until the last times. 78 Now, concerning death, the teaching is: When the decisive decree has gone forth from the Most High that a man shall die, as the spirit leaves the body to return again to him who gave it, first of all it adores the glory of the Most High. 79 And if it is one of those who have shown scorn and have not kept the way of the Most High, and who have despised his law, and who have hated those who fear the Most High -- 80 such spirits shall not enter into habitations, but shall immediately wander about in torments, ever grieving and sad, in seven ways. 81 The first way, because they have scorned the law of the Most High. 82 The second way, because they cannot now make a good repentance that they may live. 83 The third way, they shall see the reward laid up for those who have trusted the covenants of the Most High. 84 The fourth way, they shall consider the torment laid up for themselves in the last days. 85 The fifth way, they shall see how the habitations of the others are guarded by angels in profound quiet. 86 The sixth way, they shall see how some of them will pass over into torments. 87 The seventh way, which is worse than all the ways that have been mentioned, because they shall utterly waste away in confusion and be consumed with shame, and shall wither with fear at seeing the glory of the Most High before whom they sinned while they were alive, and before whom they are to be judged in the last times. 88 "Now this is the order of those who have kept the ways of the Most High, when they shall be separated from their mortal body. 89 During the time that they lived in it, they laboriously served the Most High, and withstood danger every hour, that they might keep the law of the Lawgiver perfectly. 90 Therefore this is the teaching concerning them: 91 First of all, they shall see with great joy the glory of him who receives them, for they shall have rest in seven orders. 92 The first order, because they have striven with great effort to overcome the evil thought which was formed with them, that it might not lead them astray from life into death. 93 The second order, because they see the perplexity in which the souls of the unrighteous wander, and the punishment that awaits them. 94 The third order, they see the witness which he who formed them bears concerning them, that while they were alive they kept the law which was given them in trust. 95 The fourth order, they understand the rest which they now enjoy, being gathered into their chambers and guarded by angels in profound quiet, and the glory which awaits them in the last days. 96 The fifth order, they rejoice that they have now escaped what is corruptible, and shall inherit what is to come; and besides they see the straits and toil from which they have been delivered, and the spacious liberty which they are to receive and enjoy in immortality. 97 The sixth order, when it is shown to them how their face is to shine like the sun, and how they are to be made like the light of the stars, being incorruptible from then on. 98 The seventh order, which is greater than all that have been mentioned, because they shall rejoice with boldness, and shall be confident without confusion, and shall be glad without fear, for they hasten to behold the face of him whom they served in life and from whom they are to receive their reward when glorified. 99 This is the order of the souls of the righteous, as henceforth is announced; and the aforesaid are the ways of torment which those who would not give heed shall suffer hereafter." 100 I answered and said, "Will time therefore be given to the souls, after they have been separated from the bodies, to see what you have described to me?" 101 He said to me, "They shall have freedom for seven days, so that during these seven days they may see the things of which you have been told, and afterwards they shall be gathered in their habitations." 102 I answered and said, "If I have found favor in thy sight, show further to me, thy servant, whether on the day of judgment the righteous will be able to intercede for the unrighteous or to entreat the Most High for them, 103 fathers for sons or sons for parents, brothers for brothers, relatives for their kinsmen, or friends for those who are most dear." 104 He answered me and said, "Since you have found favor in my sight, I will show you this also. The day of judgment is decisive and displays to all the seal of truth. Just as now a father does not send his son, or a son his father, or a master his servant, or a friend his dearest friend, to be ill or sleep or eat or be healed in his stead, 105 so no one shall ever pray for another on that day, neither shall any one lay a burden on another; for then every one shall bear his own righteousness and unrighteousness." .....2 Esdras 7:75 ///////////

The classical pieces sound fantastic, but most of the rock stuff is a bit safe & hackery, there doesn't seem to be much thought into the voicings. It's basically what you might hear from most pianists at a house party taking song requests and playing for the first time. I think if she spent more time composing & voicing the rock pieces many would be better.
