8:30 Freedom is the power to choose, because before Jesus died for us we didn’t have the power to choose. Everything we did was sinful and it was wrong and it was selfish and self serving. Everything we did denied God Because we were disconnected from relationship with him because of our sin nature. But Jesus died for us, and now we have the power to choose what is right & what is good & what is righteous, The beautiful thing about this power we’ve been given to choose this freedom that Jesus purchased for us on the cross; Because we have this power we’re now responsible of how we use it; The good news of the Gospel is that sin no longer has any power over you; you no longer have any obligation to sin. You have no obligation to live in compromise, or to live in lack, or to live in brokenness, or to live in condemnation, and yet as we do live in these things. We have to ask ourselves, did Jesus really make us free or not? And if Jesus made you free, if Jesus gave you the power to choose and you’re still living in sin, that means you’re living in sin because you’re choosing to.
