Even without it, you'll be fine, as long as you don't do a "jump and smash". The leg is just to reduce sagging, to assure a more level surface. Obviously, it can hold the weight of a person, without any issue. Unless you use it as a work bench to rebuild an engine, it will handle anything you put on it, plus, it's safe to lean on.

This is the best test I have ever seen! I have one of these desks that is about to get replaced by some butcher block I found for a great price but it has definitely held up for me as well. I have the same type of setup 2 Alex file drawers with the Linnmon on top, it has held up my PC with 2 monitors (a 32 inch and a 27 inch) since I got it without the middle leg. Definitely would recommend this to someone that needed a cheap desk setup. It is much better than a folding table (I have seen so many PCs damaged because of folding tables).
@MarkRosengarten Жыл бұрын
I have Linnmon tables in my studio where I do my oil painting work. The melamine coat makes it easy to clean up and, even though the table tops are scuffed, stained and dinged, when I need to replace them it will be easy and cheap to do. The Alex cabinets work well for the sides and, on one, I have a filing cabinet supporting the middle of the table so it's extra strong. I had a Canon pro printer on one for years, it is a huge and heavy printer, but never had any issues with it.

It be best if you put it on wood tho, it doesn’t do good on carpet. They have different size ones at ikea, if you got one near you, I’d pick it up. With the 4 legs it cost me around $35 I think, buy a drill from ikea tho. You’ll need one to build the table unless you got some jacked ass arms to build it with just a screw driver

I made the mistake of getting one of these. Less than 6 months in, my monitor arms literally started crushing the paper filling to the point where all four sides popped off. Thankfully I managed to notice in time, otherwise the $80 table top would have caused me $1500 in damage to my equipment! definitely go for a solid wood table if you plan on using a monitor arm that clamps onto the table.
@MattieKB2 жыл бұрын
Thats crazy! people always ask me, so ill tel them to steer clear for clamp on monitor arms!
@RGInquisitor2 жыл бұрын
@@MattieKB Please, do so! The thing to look out for when purchasing at IKEA is to avoid any and all desktops or table tops that have the label "honeycomb structure paper filling". You can't even screw things to its underside without them falling off, lol. I tried using cable channels, screwing on a headphone holder, and a USB hub to route my cables. They all fell off because the screws obviously had nothing to screw into! Never making the same mistake again. I tell people to just save up and get a Butcher's Block table/counter top from Home Depot or similar hardware store. Even if you have to oil and varnish the top yourself, its a lot better as its solid wood and not that expensive. You can get cheap legs or desk frame yourself from IKEA instead for cheap.
