This spring we’re going to England and Norway and for the first time my photo gear is going to be limited to my iPhone with Polar and Moment filters/lenses, and my Insta360 One R. To think of carrying everything in a small sling rather than lugging around a backpack all day is a dream come true. Even if you didn’t do a full month, just limiting yourself to mobile photography for a single trip would be awesome to see. Do it. Do. It. Do it.

I used both my Galaxy S10 + and the iPhone XS Max as my on the go vlog setup and honestly its very usable. I also used a Smooth 4 gimbal and it worked great. Only downsides is that I couldn't get used to using the back camera on either to vlog, I much rather prefer being able to see the screen. The front camera just wasn't the best on either device. Also, even with certain apps like Filmic Pro, using the flat color profile, the color grading still isn't my favorite. I only use my mobile device for video when I can't take any other device into the area like a concert or something. Other than that, I use my actual camera
@abhrecordspodcast4 жыл бұрын
Also let me add that atleast with my S10+, the image looks extremely soft, and both look terrible in low light while using filmic pro for some reason. I will definitely stick to my A6600 for vlogging

Phone video- Like my sony a7r3 or sony rx100 vii( 9 minute overheat shutoff aside) cameras, in video, I can get a jello up and down motion which I suggested might be me touching the camera buttons or, with cameras, touching lense or camera to focus and thus, cause problems. Any movement with the phone magnifies jitter or up down movement. Im gonna trying a inexpensive remote control, with wired or infared control to not touch the phone or camera. Ive seen many people using a osmo mobile 3 gimbal, $110, with their phone, $12 counterbalance weights, and attached to the gimbal handle, a rode compact mic $60. yes, involves some weight and size but still way lighter and less intrusive for video than my conventional cameras. A drawback to phone video has been lack of backround depth ( backround looks like a flat wall) but I expect that problem to be solved in new phones in next 2 years. But, I often find I dont absolutely need that external mic in my phone imprommptu videos. But, Im prejudiced, thinking phone cameras will replace mirrorless cameras in 6years for all but professionals and a few of us niche market types. the phone is just quick and easy to use. Even at the crazy $1400 cost of the samsung S20 ultra. it may be better to get a new phone every 4 years . My $4k to $7k of camera stuff goes obsolete in about 5 years to $0.500 dollars value. Im thinking 3 tripods-1 lite sirui travel, 1 flm regular, 1 monopod, 2 mics, a few lights like aputure 120d $745 yikes!!, boling led $145, small light dome $129, a small drone, 4k Camlink, 1 camera, 2 lenses 15-35, 85, and good top of line camera phone will suffice . And a new phone every 4 years
