Idea for a storefront: When I was growing up in NYC during the late 1950s-early 1960s, there was a corner shop with two plate glass windows at right angles. The display wasn't kept up, and I doubt that the aging metalworker got much work as he has been in the business since the 1930s. I never saw him, but he was spoken about. Quite mysterious. There was a prominent silvery Tin Man expertly cobbled together with studs and all, inspired from the character in the 1939 American Film, The Wizard of Oz, rising from the drifts of dust behind one of the windows. It was several feet high, almost the size of me. I walked by it probably close to a thousand times as it was on the way to school and also some friends' homes. As with all memorable storefronts, it was unforgettable.

I have been obsessed with tofu during this self isolation time... its a lot easier to stock up on in my fridge when i'm not going to the grocery store frequently, and man I love it. Also pretty cheap in comparison to meat products.

Mateusz Urbanowicz we are on what we call “lockdown”. We can’t go any except to grocery stores, doctor office and pharmacies. Most of our employees are working from home if possible. We have about three more weeks of this, hopefully, in the USA. I live in California. You and Hana stay safe ❤️

Tony Stencel it’s a pencil sharpening knife. But you can use a retractable blade knife etc too 👍

Have you read The Art of Nausicaä: Watercolor Impressions? I wonder how Miyazaki paint with watercolor. I'd like to see how you redraw pictures from book :)
@mattjabbar4 жыл бұрын
Фёдор I have all the books from this series (almost) and Miyazaki’s watercolors are an important influence in my style. I have not tried a direct “study” yet but maybe I should 👍

How do you hold the fountain pen so steady? BTW great drawing I think the sad oni is funny
@mattjabbar4 жыл бұрын
Laila Muhammad I try to hold it loosely actually. If I don’t concentrate my lines get really straight and stiff. That’s why I’m gripping it so far.

I love the way this series is going! Is this going to be the 3rd book? Or is it just for fun? Also, did your Hokkaido in ink book print?!
@mattjabbar4 жыл бұрын
The "Hokkaido in Ink" is printed but stuck in limbo until we can get the DFTBA shop and some goods going. The "New Storefronts" is just a fun project for now but I might turn it into a book some day.

@mattjabbar4 жыл бұрын
Ja ogólnie lubię używać niebieski (czasiem ciepły ale raczej zimne odmiany) do cieni. Staram się tak dobierać kolor cienia by nie zrobić zielonego przez przypadek ;)
