I have passionately exclaimed that this is the best value for money synths in its class, for some time. Yeah they aren’t cheap cheap, but the sounds are sublime. We use mine on absolutely every track we produce. Also Matt you are not only a ridiculous player, but your synth programming is fairly otherworldly. My Take 5 sounds good, but you make it sound infinitely better with your ability. I will be getting this preset pack! Edit: Also not stated enough, I really think these have a great keyboard too, keys have a decent weight to them but feel strong, especially when leaning into the aftertouch.

I'm about to finally pull the trigger on one and hopefully immerse myself in learning how to use the mod matrix and creating music. The music isn't the issue. I struggle with getting sounds purposefully out of my synths. I have a lot of happy accidents but those aren't necessarily repeatable when I don't know how exactly I got there. You make it look so simple.

@@kierenmoore3236The P'08 is my all time favourite synth and I bought the REV2 for it's extra features and I also love to use both synths at ones and even 2 x 2 layers or 2 x 2 split sounds at ones. Also the 8 voice UNISON is sick, only my OB-6 UNISON as good, but has that little extra to it that not many synths have. All the LFO/MOD possibility's make it a sound design monster. No reason for me to sell the P'08. The P'08 and REV 2 cut through very other synth, create some extra layers and is just punchy-er and phat-er then most synths. The Take 5 is seriously awesome, you can create Prophet 5 and Prophet 6 sounds with it, the filter is seriously awesome and smooth like butter, just as nice as the OB-6 filter, but I like the gritty filter of the P'08/REV2 just as well, it also has something special, but is harder to work with, you need to find the sweet spot.

All my favourite stuff from the late 70s/80s used a Prophet. I had a Pro-One back in the day, but this is the first Sequential poly I've owned after all this time. There's something about the tone. Sounds thin/bright, for a VCO/VCF synth, to me … Digital LFOs, envelopes, VCA/Amps(?), so the entire back-end (after the filter) is digital, as I understand it? Not sure if that alone explains it, or it’s the newer VCO chips used in this particular model, as well. I mean, they were working to a price point, and obviously don’t want to cannibalise their higher-end synths sales.

Between 1977 and the present (2023) and all iterations of Sequential Circuits, there have probably been 30 different synthesizer, module and drum machine models that have hit the market. Somehow, the only classic model that ever tempted me (despite the inflated pricetag) was the Prophet T8. This one is definitely pushing my temptation meter into the red. It’s not difficult, since this is a VCO polysynth (Al four that I’ve owned through the last 20 years have been DCO) with an Oberheim-style mod matrix, the aftertouch-sensitive keyboard and a pricetag that wouldn’t sink the lusitania. With the musicians I currently play with, I tote my Korg clone of the ARP Odyssey to practice. One thing I wouldn’t mind if I knew this model could do would be to emulate the Odyssey’s limited duophonic functionality. It probably can’t, but that would be a total kick in the head to learn it could emulate. I already get the impression that it is easily capable of approximating the sound and functionality of classic performance synths by ARP and Moog. Killer quotation of the Pointer Sisters at 14:08, Matt.

Sounds Great as always! Does it have the same analog tone as the Prophet 5? I wish they would do a proper flagship analog synth. They do their museum piece quality Prophet-5 and OB-X8 for $4-5k but then they lack effects and modern features like this, when clearly they could of added them in. They make them exactly like the old ones. I want the sound of the vintage ones plus the modern features and 10-12 voices.
