That course was brutal on bikes. The whole race was decided on the top section; the only people who were able to gain any time below that were the top 3. Ronan and Bernard were superhuman.

Be super proud of your Hardline Matt. You came out completely blind and was one of the first people to ride the new top section in absolutely horrible muddy conditions. And then became one of only two to clear the canyon gap. Even without the finish, I'd say your Hardline was legendary.

You can hear it in Matt's voice during his run, just how scary doing this really is - keeping your brain from exploding is 90% the battle. I'm thinking 2.5mm spokes, triple wall carbon rims, sewn on tires w/ bibb-mousse inserts (like the moto-rally guys use) for a 'bomb-proof' Hardine wheelset.......the present technology is just a crapshoot. The only alternative is to ride as fast a Ronan, and hop, skip and jump over the tops of all those jagged granite teeth (which seems an impossibility for most mere mortals!). Still, it's quite the achievement, just walking thru the door. Bonus - you guys actually put a fisherman in the Top-10 wearing the Helfare kit! (best uniforms out there!)
